  • Hi

I use XSite Pro which after using Dreamweaver and Frontpage is so much easier. Everything is there for you without the hassle of html etc although you can add that or CSS manually if you want to. You can also add videos, audios etc. Have made some great sites using this

Photshop and XsitePro are the easiest.

you can easily create a website from scratch, draw.find images to add, slcie and create in XsitePro then upload with 10 pages of content in less than an hour.

Dreamweaver is also good if you have some html knowledge, if you are looking for a wysiwyg editor then XSP is the kiddy

I see everyone suggesting software which costs hundreds of dollars.

Now, I am a beginner, but I ask, what about free software like:

    Evrsoft First page

    PageBreeze

    Kompozer

Are these too difficult to use?

And for graphics, what about using:

    Paint.net

Have you tried these software programs? What are their good points and bad points?

    Thanks!

Dreamweaver is good, but it has some annoying features. To be honest if you can find a template to work on your better off just working on it in frontpage or a html wysiwyg editor.

    Hi,

Your question "website design software" can mean two different things. The editing of existing files (html and images) or the creation of the graphics. If you're just wanting to take a template and add your own existing pics and content, you can use coffeecup or nvu.

If you want to create and change the graphics, there is a great software you can buy that is capable of photoshop results, but costs under $100 go to www.xara.com.

You'll find it's a lot easier to use than photoshop also.

It depends on what operating system you're using, if you're using Windows, I'd recommend Notepad++, and if you're on a Mac, I'd recommend TextMate. Both are really powerful and will speed up your page design process by leaps and bounds.

I just realized you might be wanting graphic software too. So for the Windows side, go with Paint.NET and for Mac, Pixelmator. Cheers!

Presently, we are working with Joomla 1.5. I suppose I'll be able to tell you more about it when we get the new site up and running to see how it really works, but you can get a lot of free plug ins and templates for it. It's definitely worth a look!
