Well i will recommend you to use Corel draw as it is most suitable for high resolution Graphics design, Or you could go with Adobe photoshop too it could also lead you to your mid level work done.

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Corel draw software's are the best for me. @sohidulislam45 this 3 softwares have different features. So which is the best one?, it depends on you and your work but normally Adobe Corel draw is powerful for image vector, compared to Illustrator and Photoshop is good for image editing. Also it's good to have some working knowledge with all this software's.

But to the OP, what would you want to do with Adobe Illustrator? As the name implies, it's a good software for illustrators. Do you create or know how to create vector graphics? If not, keep it simple and use your Photoshop.

I, as well, use the entire Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc.).

But, if you are looking for a free alternative to Photoshop, GIMP is a pretty good option. Not as "powerful" as Photoshop but, for the majority of jobs, it does the trick.

Yes that's true no big functions like Adobe suite but GIMP is good for normal works and its fast, no need lot of ram, graphics than adobe software's. .... I was used this software with Ubuntu O/S.

Greetings. I design and use designers all over the world. With all of us, PhotoShop and Illustrator are the defacto standard. Yes, there are other good options nowadays but for compatibility sake and for great support, tutorials and the like - Adobe IS it. That doesn't mean you can't create great graphics with another application. You can. // If you are doing logos or specialized graphics that will need to scale use Illustrator as it is a vector based program. PhotoShop is not vector. The comparison is that if you create the same image in both programs, if you try to blow it up in PhotoShop, it will dither badly. If you blow it up in Illustrator it will be perfect. Now this doesn't mean that PhotoShop doesn't produce top quality - it's just a different method of image resolution and creation. // If you are doing any print with your image, then in PhotoShop, you need to make sure the DPI is at least 150 to 300dpi. For web only, 72dpi is fine. Hope this helps!

If you've never used Illustrator before, it's very different from Photoshop since it creates vector graphics. Unless you actually have a reason to find an alternative, stick with Photoshop

adobe creative suite 6 is best for graphic designing standard. its user friendly interface make its use more easier.but the main point is ram if you have good ram in your pc only then that will work good.

Photoshop is great. It takes a little while to become competent in it but the amount of great stuff that you can create in it is almost limitless.

As others have mentioned, Illustrator is also a great tool for designing vector images. Pair the two together and HTML/CSS knowledge and you're on your way to becoming a designer

Photoshop is awesome for web graphics and it was all I used but I started using Illustrator a while back and its amazing too. I find it much easier than photoshop and much faster to use. I now switch back and fourth between the two.

Learn them both if you want to excel in graphics

How can you say "only Adobe Photoshop" if you need vector graphics (which Photoshop cannot do)?

There are projects where smooth color contouring (e.g. like photographs) is needed and Photoshop or free GIMP are the choice. And then there are projects requiring vector graphics (e.g. for logos, etc.) where discrete bounded areas of only one color each, like in maps or cartoons, are required. Then Adobe Illustrator (or maybe free Inkscape) are required.

Two different tools for two different (and incompatible) needs. You can't do without either, if you do full service graphics.

If you don't understand the difference and think you can just use Photoshop for anything and everything, you need to educate yourself.

In my opinion sticking with just one software limits your knowledge. I use multiple programs when it comes to web design. Each software has its advantages and disadvantages. No single software is like master of them all, they all have strong and weak points.

I use Adobe (Photoshop/Fireworks) and have also used Paint, Corel and a few others.

Adobe illustrator for vector creation
Adobe Photoshop for graphic design
Adobe Fireworks for web base graphics
Adobe Imagine for brochure design.

Photoshop its the best software for graphic design, some people like fireworks for web design, but photoshop works too. Also illustrator its another great software, but this works for vectors, print works.

I've tried other free options but I keep coming back to Photoshop. It really is the best, even for simple edits and color changes.
