Hi,

Anyone can help me with this "simple" or not problem?

How I can get rid of double title on my website

I have WP site and in general setting I have

Site Title: My Site
Tagline: My taggline

But when I search my site with google it looks like this

Title - Tagline. |Title

Does some plugin cause this or what? and how to fix it?

We would need to see the site to diagnose.

Does the problem appear with all the plugins inactive?

Are you using one of the WordPress default themes?

I had a similar problem with double titles. It turned out to be the theme itself. Once I changed out the (Wordpress) theme to a more quality theme, the problem was resolved.

These bluff usually comes from the theme.

Try to erase the title and description you have on the theme that's on the theme settings, don't mistake this for the General Setting that comes with WP.

And then add any good SEO plugin like Yoast or All in one SEO and override the titles you provide on the SEO setting if you want to optimize your pages.

If you ain't willing to change the theme or can't do it i would be glad to take a look at it later if you shoot me a PM with the details...

Probably you are using the Yoast plugin but it will be better if you give us more details. If yes then make sure you enter the name of the site in the plugin settings (if you are using a custom page as your homepage then enter the title there) and then in the plugin settings--->Titles & Metas--->Home you have something like this: %%sitename%% - THE TITLE OF YOUR SITE . Just delete %%sitename%%

    I hope it helps.

    So I just delete "%%sitename%%" from this %%title%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%% in Yoast?

Because atm my posts look like this
Title - Site Name | Site Name

After investigating it more I was able to fix it with very simply solution.

You have to make sure that your title section in the header.php file is exactly like this:

      <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title>

You can just use a WordPress plugin to turn on or off the title in each post or page individually.

I use the "Toggle the Title" plugin. And that won't affect your Yoast "Wordpress SEO" plugin, because it has a place to specify the title that only search engines see - I think.
