I just need the pages not to show up in my menu. I de-select then, and they still show up. What plugin can I use to keep download pages, etc from showing up?

Thanks!

How are you managing the site's menu? using WP native menu? if so, have you assign the menu to the correct menu location?

I've unchecked the pages from the menu, but they are still showing up on the side menu. I AM a wordpress newbie - been blogging on it for a while but this is my first website, but haven't found out what I'm doing wrong.

You need to create a new menu showing only the pages you want to display. Save the menu and set it as the default (i.e. instead of the one WP creates automatically). It should do the trick.

If you're creating download pages, you should protect them with a plugin like s2member.

+1 for Exclude Pages - it works a treat.

And if you don't want your page to show in the site search results (for instance, if it's a download page) then install Search Exclude as well as selecting the NoIndex option in Yoast or whatever other SEO plugin you use.

You could try a squeeze page plugin like Papertemplate. It includes the option to exclude. Also makes killer "clean" pages.
