    Hi Pieter

Really depends on what you want to do, but if you want an ecommmerce site, then most likely your best bet is PHP and MySQL as the database in the background.

To get you started, if you have a decent web hosting account, most of them allow you to setup OSCommerce on it for free. It is one of the scripts you will find in the cpanel of the site. Sometimes under the Fantastico option.

OSCommerce is a Open Source software, so it is free and you can get books on it, they have a support forum and you will find many websites are using it for ecommerce.

I use OSCommerce on some sites and work on it for people. It comes with a basic template and you can make changes to this if you know HTML, CSS and PHP. You don't have to understand all the PHP as the site is prebuilt, and if you just want to change layout of the site you can do this with the HTML and CSS skills. Just becareful not to damage the embedded PHP code.

    Have a Great Day!

    Hi Pieter,

Honestly, if this is not a hobby I would not recommend trying to tackle this yourself. You can definitely get a website up and running on your own, but you don't want potential clients looking at your first attempt as a reflection of your biz.

I would go to scriptlance and get it done there or pm me for some other options.

    Dawn.
