Wordpress Multi Site Question Regarding Emails

Good evening my fellow Warriors! Thank you for taking the time to read this thread. I've been constructing a business plan which involves potentially using the Wordpress Multisite feature. However, I have a question regarding how emails work when domain mapping a Wordpress Multi Site installation.

Lets say a user signsup for a multisite wordpress website. So for example, the main site is multisite.com, and the user registers for a blog called user.multisite.com. Now, using the Wordpress domain mapping feature the users can now access his multisite blog by going to user.com instead of the ugly subdomain we provided to him. All simple? right! However, what if the user wanted to have an email such as bob@user.com. How would we do that? How could a user have a private email setup for a domain which is mapped to a Wordpress Multisite installation? Is it possible?

The only way I can really think of doing so is by changing the MX records to point to Google Apps, however is this the only way?

Thanks for your input

Google Apps is not the only email provider, although they are probably the easiest to set up.

You could create an email account for bob@user.com using cPanel and manually altering the dns records.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

Hey RobinInTexas! Thanks for the response I thought about doing it via Cpanel like that, however, the end user would need to be able to create as many emails as they need themselves. So I don't think that alternative is one that would work Thanks for the input!
