Need advice about creating a dating site

I am going to create a dating site. I am experinced on HTML and CSS. What i can't find any answer for is that what else do i need in terms of scripting and / or programming. For example, when users create an account how do they do it, how is that saved, and retrieved? Also, when they do a search how will that be retrieved? I have no idea about that stuff. There are some free and paid scripting programs out there, but their templates are very amateurish. I want to create a good looking site with the features of users registration and searching capabilities. I appreciate any suggestions!

    You need to know more than HTML/CSS in order to create such a website. MySQL is needed to manage your database and other programming language like PHP, JAVA or Python in order to program whole website. Or you can use some CMS like WordPress or ImpressPages and adjust it by yourself. Good luck.

    Go to hotscripts.com and do a search for dating sites. Find one with the features you want. If you don't like the templates that comes with it you can just buy a new one from places like templatemonster.com or hire a designer.

    If you intend to code it yourself, then you'll need to learn up some scripting language like PHP, Ruby on Rails, etc. and also on database like MySQL.
    I'd suggest you check out Ruby on Rails n try making some simple application using the tutorials that you can find for free on the internet just to get a feel of it.

    Otherwise, you can get someone else to code for you or modify ready made platforms like Wordpress or find/ create a plugin to enable you to have the features of the dating site you've wanted. Then, you can get a designer to make it look more professional.

    Yes it is a good idea to make a dating site. you can make it by yourselves of with the help of professional web developers and after making the site you can make good money with this site t promote it on different social sites and doing some Ad campaigns.

    There are a couple of options:
    - Hire programmers to create a script for you.
    - Purchase a premade script
    - Purchase a premade script and hire somebody to customize it to your needs.
    - Learn programmin language and create the site yourself.

    A dating site can be very profitable, especially if you create a network of sites. But it takes some time to build up, the beginning period is the hardest to get initial members. But if you work hard you can definately achieve success

    there are many free scripts available i'm sure you can find many quality one ...

    or better yet ... just use a third party one by just pointing your domain to them
