is there an easy way to create pull-down menu tabs in the twenty fourteen theme?

ie,

have Dogs as the main category
and then poodle, collie, labrador as sub-categories in a pull-down menu from Dogs ?

i've tried, but i can't create a pull down menu

all the sub categories i create end up in the top menu, when i only want the main category to appear ?

haven't figured it out ?

thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's very simple; First of all just create a menu in the admin,
Here you have to keep hierarchy as you want, Main category and sub category.
Than simply find for horizontal or vertical drop down menu and display it wherever you want to display.
Have a look at this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/dropdo...t/screenshots/)

Go to Appearance--->Menus and create a new menu. Check the box "Top primary menu" to tell wp that you want to use that menu for your top menu and then start adding pages, categories, posts or anything you want to your new menu. You can drag them to arrange everything the way you want and also create sub menus which will be displayed as drop downs.

Exactly, there's no need for plugins or jumping through hoops for dropdowns in WordPress, unless you are using a brain-dead theme, native WordPress supports dropdown menus

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

For anyone who comes across this and is confused when it just lists everything in the menu, after you go to appearance-->menu and list all of the pages/subpages that you want to display, to make it a dropdown menu, drag the subpage to the right a little bit and it will nest underneath as a dropdown.

You can manage your menu from wordpress dashboard->Appearance->Menu

Here you can add pages, posts, categories and then save.
