How to convert a site into wordpress?

Hello All,

I want to convert my sitehttp://drsmiles.org/ to wordpress. I have watched several videos and found that I can do so having a subfolder under
drsmiles.org and installing wordpress there. After creating the whole site i will have to shift that in root folder and will have to make come changes in database. But, this is the main problem. I am not a technical person and playing with database is not easy for me. Is there any way to eliminate this step or is there any other method to change my site to wordpress.

There are a number of ways to do this. My preference is to develop the new site on a local machine using the 'xampp' stack. Once I'm happy with the new site I use the 'duplicator' plugin to transfer the new site onto the live server.

If you want to go this route then there are a number of tutorials out there .. like this one ---> How to Install WordPress Locally for PC/Windows with XAMPP - WPMU DEV

If you use the 'duplicator' plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/) you won't have to mess about with databases (although it does expect one to be there already). Its always worked for me and the tutorial videos explain everything really well.
