Creating a niche specific news site ?

Hey,
I am looking to make a site for a specific niche aggregating all the news.

Any one have experience in this. I have looked at couple of plugins online however none of them have any example of how the site looks like and how good the aggregation is. Do not want it to look like a spam. Any idea ?
