Hi Warriors,

Well, i have an offer to learn how to design websites for $1200/year for four years then after that, i will be able to design websites. My question here, I will be able to make the money that i will invest in learning this? Learning web design worth it?

Regards,

If you couldn't make $1200/year designing websites, there wouldn't be an industry around it.

That said, go to Learn Web Design, Web Development, and More | Treehouse and save your money.

It all depends on you and your ability to learn. Are you someone who can teach yourself or do you need to have a teacher or instructor to bounce questions off of? If the latter, then before you invest do your due diligence to determine whether the place you will be taught from is credible and ask for some references from successful students that have graduated from the institution. If you can teach yourself, then google is definitely your friend. There is a market for earning money building websites but it is also saturated to some degree so you will want to find a niche or local market to begin with.

There is a huge amount of courses available on the internet and you can acquire them for free through torrents. There is no need to pay thousands of dollars to learn web design or web development.

It really depends on your learning style. Will this be classes that you attend or self study? If it is classes and you prefer to learn from attending a class with a lecturer then this is fine. If you are a good designer then you will make your money yes. I do not really understand why it is going to take 4 years though unless it is some kind of programming degree?

If you are paying this for a self study course, then I would do as the other's suggest and learn yourself online for free in stead.

Yes, it's a programming degree. I tried several times to learn at home but i find it hard, maybe the courses weren't good enough? idk.

My question is, will i make the money i will invest in this learning or not? to not waste my money in something will not benefit me after that.

    You need design skills.
Most cannot learn this -- it comes naturally.

When you learn web design, the greatest “a ha!” moments will come as you realize what HTML and CSS are capable of. No matter what newfangled technology you’re using online, the final output always involves these two basic languages. Knowing some code can help you push your projects to be the best that they can be and not leave your designs at the mercy of developers to interpret and implement. At the end of the day, HTML and CSS aren’t that complex. Once you start understanding the big web concepts, designing for the web becomes an opportunity to stretch your creative limits.

Its all on you that which kind of skills you have and how you get to learn these things. There are many skilled people which are earning huge amount by web design and designing is a one of the groing field so you shjould have focus on learning this time rather then thinking about money.

    Hi.
I have 4 years experience in Web and Graphic Design and I didn't take any classes.. Learned it myself. Watched tons of tutorials. Tried them myself as well. At the end of the day what matters is your creativity. I would not suggest you to pay $1200 per year for learning because even though it is not alot but your teacher can only teach you the tools. Implementation will still be yours. So go ahead and download Photoshop. Spend some time watching tutorials. What that will do is that it will give you an understanding of what tool does what. And once you have that, then you can use that understanding into developing your own creativity. And if you still think you need someone for guidance, you should only ask this teacher for a 2-3 days course where he/she can guide you regarding the dimensions and resolutions etc.

And as for your answer about earning in web design. Well there is a huge market out there so yes there is money in this. But I would have to agree with the other comments that it will depend on how good you are. Plus you don't need to spend 4 years just to learn and then jump into it. I think if you follow the self learning process for 4-6 months, you will have a basic understanding. And you can start finding projects. And then you can learn along the way while doing actual projects. That is the best way to learn. Working on different project will give you an idea of what to do. And if you get stuck somewhere, you always have tutorials to help you with that. I do the same thing.

    Hope that helped.

    Best of luck.
    Thanks.
