Hi,

My main blog is in a subdirectory called 'blog' and the root is open for splash pages, etc..

Question: I want to install OptimizePress in the root...so I will have to upload another install of Wordpress there, correct?

Any input on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ken

If you want to have a sales page or any page with Optimizepress in the root then....certainly...you need to install WordPress in the root only.

However, if you have any installation already in the root of that domain..and if already any other theme is working and serving other pages of your site then...you can use optimizepress as a plugin.....and then you can easily use old theme at the same time any new page with Optimizepress....

I hope, it will help you....

      Hi vikash,

I would put OP as a plugin in my existing install but then my OP pages will have 'blog' in the web address, correct? I do not want that for those pages.

Can I have an install in the root AND my subdirectory as I already have a WP install there now (sub)?

    Hi Ken,
Yes! You can do a fresh install in your root folder...and keep your blog in your subdirectory "blog" as it is....That would be OK....No issues with that...

    Hey Ken

In a web browser, when you go to the root directory right now, what do you see? Is it Wordpress?

If YES, then you do NOT want another installation of Wordpress.

See, if you installed Wordpress in the root, then you made a page called blog, then root/blog is the page it would be on. If you really want to split them, better to do an Add-On domain. this gives you a URL like: blog.rootDomain.com NOT rootDomain.com/blog

Unless you have very specific reason for NOT wanting the blog to be connected to the rest of the site, it is much easier to just use a single installation and maintain your entire site for a single admin panel.

      Hi Richard,

There is no install of Wordpress in the root. I installed WP in a subdirectory named 'blog' because I wanted the root to be splash page.

I should have done what you outlined, but I don't think I want to start over.

I'll just do another install of WP in the root and all my sales and squeeze pages will be housed there.

Any issues I should be aware of in that instance?

      Richard,

      I do have a question:

Is there a way to create subdirectories in WP without having to make more WP installs?

An example would be having multiple squeeze and landing pages and splitting them up by topic.
