Affiliate Website Review - Sales Have Dropped a Bit

Hello,

I'd hate to ask here, but I'm at a loss with what happened to my affiliate site.

You'll find it, here: ShortRam.com - Quality Air Intake Reviews.

A bit of a backstory, prior to May of this year, I had been writing my own articles/reviews. Usually around 200-700 words. From the time the site launched, up until May sales were somewhat consistent.

Around mid May, I had brought a friend in to write articles for me and we'd split monthly commission. By the end of June we had a lot more sales. Everything was going well. Suddenly (July), hardly anyone is clicking to Amazon despite slowly getting more traffic to the site and those that do click do not buy.

We have not had a sale in a few months although the traffic is there and nothing at all in our articles had changed.

We have not tried much else, as we're not sure where to turn.

We try to write helpful and informative content that's not thin.

What do you think?
Do our articles suck?
Are people starting to clear away from Amazon?
Should we change themes asap?
Is the niche increasing in competition/difficulty? (though, again... we're getting more traffic by month).
Is there anything that catches your eye that needs change immediately?
Issues with the design?

Thanks so much to those that give their input. If you have any further questions, please ask.

    I went to your site and clicked a few of the amazon affiliate links to see if they have been hijacked by someone else's tag. Many of the links end with two different tags I noticed.

    I know the shortram-20 tag is yours, but is wwwhisandherw-20 also a tag you use?

    I'm seeing this at the end of the affiliate links I clicked:
    tag=wwwhisandherw-20&linkId=DD64TA5HIH6PAMPZ
    tag=shortram-20
    tag=wwwhisandherw-20&linkId=HNDCYPUGYWWS3PJU
    tag=shortram-20&linkId=YPGVJMXNHN7VAXQQ
    tag=wwwhisandherw-20&linkId=DMI7J5HIQDUQDIDW

    Perhaps someone else is getting your sales?

      Thanks for the reply. That's another tag under my Amazon account. Sometimes I forget to switch between the tags.

        You said your traffic is consistent, but what about your clicks? In the amazon associates page, you can see the number of clicks you're getting. Have they gone down as well?

        Here are my suggestions:

        - Have the Buy at Amazon button to the top of your articles as well as the bottom, and make them a bit more prominent.
        - Have the Buy links open a new window rather than leave your page. Just add target="_blank" to the anchor tags that have the links. Do this and people will be more likely to go back to your site and continue reading after visiting amazon.
        - Something else you might want to consider is Amazon's "add to cart" button, so users can add items to their cart right from your site. This can be useful for increasing conversions because regular Amazon cookies only last for 24 hours; however, if items in a cart are purchased within 90 days of being added, you'll get credit for the sale. If you do this, you might consider using text like "Save for Later in My Amazon Cart." It's less intimidating than Buy Now links and people will be more likely to add it to their cart. Here's the link to amazon's page for this: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com..._link_177735_1

        Good luck!!

          Thanks for the reply. Yes, in my site analytics, I can see that clicks are down.

          Great suggestions, worth a shot anyway.
