Is there any software or web services out there that you would recommend?

Thx.

There are many free logo templates that you can edit in Photoshop, but if you want to do it yourself and are unwilling to learn Photoshop, your options are limited.

Better to just hire someone if you don't want to learn to use image editing software. Or pay five bucks on Fiverr for a mediocre logo.

I offer logo services on Fiverr and I think they are not mediocre at all...

Why is so hard to respect the work of others?.. If you don´t like Fiverr services, ok, don´t use it.. but not qualify it as "mediocre".

There are numerous online logo/graphic creation tools of varying degrees. For example Cool Text: Logo and Graphics Generator - easy to work with though quite basic. If basic's what you want it might hit the spot.

I prefer using hatch wise. They have $39 logo contests now. Most people find that FIVERR logos are OK, but they do not look pro. Other good web sites are 99 designs and crowd spring. Crowd sourcing is a major win.

So you want to do it yourself but you're afraid of phoshop?
Please, be clear with yourself first and you'll be able to be clear with us. So, we can understand and help you.
I don't think a professionnal logo can be made without hiring or editing with photoshop or real graphic software... If you want to do it yourself, make an effort, learn how to do it... and you'll get a knowlegde for life...
    Good luck.

Humans are the key to designing a great logo. Any Fiverr vendor can do the job . . . but to make the logo legal, fresh, and outstanding takes an artist with an eye for design.

Software you might use can produce a logo; but it's the human design element that makes the logo great!

    STOP!
    Ask yourself this question first.

Are you in this to be a designer or to just sell stuff?

Don't get me wrong - I'm a bit crafty, creative, and can maneuver myself around graphics stuff when needed. But my TIME is not worth making logos. I have better things to do.

Hire someone. Crap, the fiverr is well worth it! And those people WANT to do a good job.

Get someone else working on the logo so you can do what you need to be doing.

You can buy some easy PSD photoshop templates and modify them in Photoshop. Most of the one's i've seen look really good. Google them and you'll find some that will fit your site. Or if this is too much of a bother, go to Fiverr and see what the vendor's there have to offer. If you don't have Photoshop, try your hand at Gimp. It will turn you into a master of Photoshop.

You can find some solid graphic/logo gigs on fiverr. There are some crappy ones, and u have to make sure you don't end up getting someone else's copyrighted logo, but there are also some great deals.

If you're really set on not paying someone and set on not learning, just do a Google search and I'm sure you'll find something.

I am using Photoshop CS3 which is the best. You will only need a pattern of other logo if you want to copy or modify. Try to see the logo in my website that I have made with Photoshop CS3. This is so far the best for me even creating the ebook covers I have made with my two ebooks.

I'd hardly call that logo making software. More like clip art making software lol.

Seriously though, either hire someone or take the time and learn about design, color, composition, and master Illustrator and Photoshop. No other way around it for professional looking logos.

  • You can get Photoshop CC for $9.99/ mo. or you can download GIMP for free if your really cheap. Now search the web for free images (beware of copyrights) and modify them to your liking and slap a nice font on top of it. Or go to graphicriver.net and buy some logo templates and edit in GIMP or Photoshop to your liking.

This is just a super duper simple way. But it would be best to either outsource or take time to learn about logo design so you can make a kickass logo for whatever it is you need.

If you want to create your own logo, I would suggest to learn the basics of Photoshop or Illustrator. You can study the basic tools and explore to create graphic designs. You can also learn step by step tutorials that you can find on google. From there you can manage to create your very own logo. Thanks and goodluck.

What is the website going to be about and can you use that to create a logo?

For example, if you're a carpenter, make a physical logo from wood and photograph it.
If you detail cars for a living, can you write your logo on a car with car wax? Or even make a simple logo and photograph it in the reflection of a freshly polished car.

Sometimes using your own skills can give you a really original logo that's extremely relevant to your business.

I see GIMP was mentioned. You should give it a try, it's free and it does just what photoshop does. But you'd have to be willing to learn how to use it!
You can even do a logo in Paint, if you put your mind to it, but if you're not willing to make an effort to learn how to design one, you could end up with not such a great logo ...

Naah, you should definitely hire someone. How are you supposed to make a good logo if you use a website tool that creates generic designs? Do you want your logo to stand out or do you want it to be average? It's not that hard to make a logo in Photoshop, and it's certainly not so complicated if you know what you want. But if you want a good logo, head over to Freelancer or Fiverr.

There is nothing simple about Photoshop CC or GIMP. I do provide Tech Support for Laughingbird Software by the way...

Layer masking, drop shadows, RGB or CYMK color spectrum? I've used GIMP and photoshop for years, and yes, they are good products...

But all those effects took some to learn about. I made the following in less that 5 minutes in The Logo Creator...

Drop shadow, check. Outline text, check. Change some colors, check check.

Try making a similar image in Gimp in 5 minutes-- -you simply won't, especially as a new user.

Now go to fiver: The overwhelming amount of logos are simply uninspiring, and many contain obvious copyrighted material.....

Yes, but if you're using templates your going to come up with a generic logo that looks very similar to thousands of others. This isn't what a logo is for. A logo is supposed to provide unique brand identity. It takes real skill to design good logos. That doesn't seem to sit well with most people here that have frankly been giving terrible advise.

A good logo should be easily legible in black and white.
