Point subdomain to a file

I have a site http://site.com. Now i want whatever gets written to the sub-domain like http://user1.site.com or http://user2.site.com or http://user3.site.com, etc. should gets point to http://site.com/profile.php. From the page profile.php, i will extract the usernames of the registered users & perform the actions.

I want to do the same using .htaccess. So, how can i do so ?
