Success using adwords display network only?

Hello,

I always used the search network only. To me that traffic is much more targeted and the intention is clear, but lately in search for cheaper traffic but with quality I started thinking about using the display network.

Are you using AdWords display network? Is that quality traffic? Would you advise against it?

Thanks!

PS. All the offers I promote are adwords friendly, so that is not an issue.

Display network can also generate relevant traffic, provided you set-up the campaign strategically. If you are new to it, I suggest starting out with either managed placement campaign or Interest category targeting campaign.

      1000% recommend it.

Exclude below fold placement for one version and target by remarketing/topics/placements.

Also exclude games and apps. Also set frequency cap to 3-4 so the same person doesn't keep seeming your ad throughout the day.

It's an essential bit of kit for brand building.

If you're in the UK PM and I'll help you.

It's a bit of an arse and usually needs some calls so if you're not in the UK I'll usually only look at SEO stuff.

It's often a good idea to start out with remarketing to your search traffic on display before jumping in to display campaigns. That lets you get a bit of an idea of possible targeting options and ensures you don't blow your budget while you're getting experienced with the platform itself. Google Display is great, but there's a big learning curve and easy to waste money.
