Is LeadImpact pulling a fast one?

Hi folks,

I've never had a profitable leadimpact campaign, so I took a long break and this time I just tried giving away a free book via a squeeze page which I am split testing.

At the moment, LI has charged me for over 300 views but my aweber signup forms show only show a combined count of only 30 views.

What happened to my other 270 views?

I've heard folks saying that LI quality has gone way down recently. Are they honestly delivering the views they claim are charging me for or are they pulling a fast one on me?

Does anyone have any thoughts on why the dramatic discrepancy between aweber stats and LI stats?

Thanks!

- Pete

Can you share mor info? From. Leadimpact where did you link to? To your own hosting? If so what are you running? Shared hosting? Vps?

Can you share more details on your traffic flow and campaign setup?

LI did have some quality issues, they have gotten better IMO recently.

      Hi Chris,

      Thanks for tagging in.

My LI campaign is sending traffic to a very small squeeze page (about 70k) going to my own website hosted by Hostgator... a "Baby gator" shared hosting account.

Just wanted to share a quick update...

I added a campaign to Trafficvance as well and seem to have a similar problem.

TV reports that it served over 100 impressions, but Aweber claims that the sign up forms associated with the landing pages were only served 2 times.

I thought TV served pop-unders which I thought would permit more time to load the page before a user had opportunity to close it down, but the problem persists.

Whenever I visit one of my own landing pages, it loads like lightning and then the count in aweber increments correctly.

Whatever the problem is, this may be a part of my track record of failure with PPV.

        Any thoughts?

I've seen other threads that said that simple squeeze pages should not require a VPS solution, but I really want to get good at PPV marketing.

Do other folks get a closer correlation between their aweber form stats and their PPV impressions?

For PPV you need a VPS. Thats why you are getting such a huge click loss.
Its basically interruption marketing, if your pages don't load fast enough the user will just close them and continue whatever he was doing.
I wouldn't recommend doing PPV without a VPS.

I agree with Lrs, you should look at getting a vps. Shared hosting and ppv isn't a good idea.

also another point i'd like to add (after you get VPS)

get a real tracking platform like voluum, cpvlab, or prosper.
this will give you more detailed reporting (like heatmaps) on what's really going on.

      Thanks for the input folks.

I'll definitely be moving to VPS hosting shortly. It will be exciting to see what kind of difference I see, and maybe even some of those "near miss" campaigns will move over to the black!

One last thing is bothering me though... I was under the impression that Trafficvance was pop-under traffic. Is that correct?

Wouldn't that allow my landing page ample time to load while the user is browsing the primary page they were viewing? I expected my aweber display stats for TV to be very close to TV's impression stats for that reason.

Since that is not the case, I'm concerned that my understanding of how the PPV process works for TV is flawed. How could it be that a pop-under is closed so quickly that my aweber form is not displayed. Does a TV user see it loading before it is sent behind whatever they are viewing?

Thanks folks... just trying to understand the process a little better.

I wouldn't rely only on the TV, LI or any other ppv network count and the aweber count. I would add a google analytics or an other analytics software so you can actually audit properly the discrepancy that you have.
Note also, that it is totally normal to experience discrepancies, but by taking the necessary measures - such as above, at least you will know what to expect and where the problem is.

Having a tracking software - cpvlab/prosper/trackingdesk/volum - also adds control over your traffic flow and can help you better identify the issues.
    Hope that helps.
