The longer you wait to put adsense on your site the longer it will take for them to earn you and income.

There are also other alternatives to making money selling advertising space on your website, places like buysellads.com, but for these places you will need to have traffic coming to your site.

word of caution with adsense, if you don't get traffic from sites that google likes, they will cancel your account and not pay any money you have earned, also there are sites that say they are good for adsense traffic but the contrary is the fact, there are many other ways you can monetize your site.....

Depends on what kind of website you have.? I would recommend adding a mix of adsense and amazon ads as I have done in my site. The problem with adsense is that you are going to need quite a bit of traffic to make any decent profit and you don't get to choose what kind of ad is being shown to your visitors. At least with the amazon ads you have a chance of getting somebody that could order $100's of dollars of products and possibly make you much more than you would for a click.

There's no definite answer, but I'd say when you start building a steady readership, and you can count on at least 10 (or some number you set) comments on every post you write, and a certain number of shares and other things - basically wait until you've got your growth momentum going, and your site has an established reputation.

Wait until you have some traffic coming into your website. Like has been already mentioned, you will need a lot of traffic so hope you plan on creating an authority site.

Depends on your niche, but $$ will not be that high....

They have some standards by which they approve your account or not, you will find them on their website, the main thing is to have at least a few good quality articles posted, they don't approve 'empty' websites.
Whether Adsense is worthwhile or not though, no one can answer that but you. It depends on how much traffic you'll have, it depends on your niche and on a whole bunch of other factors.

In my opinion you need lots of traffic and good niche to make some good money. I make around 100 per month with 10,000 uniques per month website.

Are you willing to share how many unique visits you are currently getting? If it is still in the very early stages, wait it out a while.

You will sit more favourably with Google if you have more daily visitors from the start.

Every time I have tested Adsense vs CPA offers or Affiliate offers, Adsense loses. I always seem to find a better converting offer than Adsense.

This has been my experience. I am sure some Adsense experts would disagree!

So I guess what I am saying is - Test everything!

In my opinion, Adsense died a long time ago with the increasing ad blindness among visitors. You're better of doing content ads.

If you have been approved for Adsense then go ahead and slap up some Ads. Do not wait. And yes it is definitely worth pursuing Adsense.

Just do not make it your sole stream of income.

AdSense ain't what it used to be. I joined AdSense in the beginning before every web site in the world had them, and have made many hundreds of thousands of dollars from it. Although I still make decent money from it, it has slowed down considerably due to the fact that almost every site has them now, viewers are either blind to them or have clicked somewhere else, and they don't work well on attention-challenged users of smartphones, which is where a significant percentage of web traffic comes from these days.

If you have a web site that has good high-quality content in a fairly narrow niche, AdSense is still the way to go. Of course it helps if the niche is one in which Google has plenty of high-paying ads to deliver.

Someone mentioned Amazon as an alternative to AdSense. Not in my long experience. The problem is that the Amazon cookie is only good for 24 hours and many people don't make instant decisions on buying a product -- not on those that are expensive enough to result in a good commission.

Put the ads up now. Don't expect much until you have around 1000 uniques a day or more. Even then it entirely depends on your content.

Which adsense ads show up is dependent on two things:

- Your content and what it's about
- The browsing habits of the visitor

Believe it or not both of those things you can control. Creating content that shows certain types of ads is difficult, but possible. Only long term analysis will tell you which types of ads give you a higher pay per click, but once you figure it out you can tailor your content around it. Same with your visitors, you can attract a certain demographic of visitors with your content. Again it takes time and careful analysis but can be well worth it.

For instance I have a blog about programming that gets high traffic, but few clicks. When they do click the payout is high, but the clicks are much more rare. This is likely due to ad blindness from a highly technical audience who just wants to get the info and go.

I have humor sites that get less traffic, but lots of clicks. Those clicks are lower paying, but there are so many of them it adds up fast. Since I don't have a lot of text content on these sites the ads served are most likely generated by the visitor's browsing habits. It's an ongoing thing to try and figure this out.

Anyway, best of luck to you and try to apply basic marketing principles to your strategy and set yourself up for the long game. There are still tons of people making a lot of money off Adsense.

I neglected to mention one of the other changes in AdSense that I believe has impacted clicks and earnings.

For many years, the Google ads presented on a web page were based entirely on the content of the page and topic of the web site. In my case, the ads were nearly always relevant.

Now .... only some of the ads are content and topic related. Many are now based on the viewers browsing and search history. From my own personal experience, I'm not interested in seeing ads for a product that I may have had a casual interest in several days ago, or a product that I've already purchased. My ads were more productive when they only related to my content.

Adsense pays you pennies and in my view, it ain't worth it.

You would be better off to post affiliate programs.

The 50k+ I get paid from them each month says its worth it

What's the point of uploading the website? To make money? Did you have a monetization plan before creating or purchasing the site? I suspect you either did not, or you're following bad or outdated advice. Find something worthy of promoting, then construct the method of getting that offer to potential buyers (or clickers, or subscribers, or whatever). If your plan was Adsense to begin with, did you start with keyword research?

Adwords is for advertisers, Adsense is for publishers.

The ads you set up in Adwords can be seen on Google's search engine or content network. The ads placed on the content network are the Adsense ads you place on your site.

I just sold off my forums last month
35% of our revenue came from adsense. We were doing about $125-$175 per day depending on traffic. Adsense made sense to me, but the sites has loads of traffic. That was 2 forums that did about 1.5 million page views per month.

Adsense must be used as a supplementary income only. I currently have 1.5 million visitors per month avg and adsense makes me only around $7,000/month. The other ads/cpa offers and commissions make me an extra $14,000 on avg. so depending on your niche, layout and the location of your visitors, you might get different results. My traffic is from all around the world, only about 20% is from USA, so that should give you a hint to NOT target USA traffic only. As long as you can pull decent traffic (organically or paid) you can make a decent income. I recommend you put ads regardless of traffic, you need to test your results from the start and keep testing with layouts, ad positions, sizes, etc.

I personally do not run ANY ads what so ever on new sites/builds - i simply do not wish to scare new clients / momentum away before it even has a chance to really begin. Unless it is a very very small, unintrusive adset then I normally wont do ANY banner ads / etc. for the first 6 months - This also depends on the niche but in general I think it is a better way to gain momentum - just my two cents

yes.. if you have 1000+ traffic then you can make 300+$ per month... no other advertising network is as awesome as adsense... But make sure you have a quality website...

Six months ago I was making nearly £700 a month with my AdSense. My earnings for April were £191, this month will probably be not much more. However, my daily visits have not declined at all. Clicks have declined a lot, probably half of what I was getting. I have tried everything to get back to where I was a few months ago but nothing seems to have worked. I've tried moving my AdSense units around, trying different positions. I've even made all of my AdSense units mobile responsive, nothing seems to have worked. If I was to point my finger at one reason why this is happening that would be mobile devices. I think that you are far less likely to get people clicking on your AdSense units if they are using a mobile phone than if they are using a desktop, or tablet.

I'd have to strongly disagree with you guys who are so emphatic about needing volumes of traffic to make good money with Google Adsense. This is NOT my experience.

I make an average of $100 per day February through August, and up to $300 per day September through January on just two websites related to health insurance. And I don't have huge amounts of traffic.

What matters most is the niche, the quality of your content, and your theme+ad placement.

Hard to say. Give it a try, but don't be surprised if Google just cancels your account, without warning or explanation. I had success with them from 2005-2012. I consistently received checks in the $500 range every month for about five years.

One day, I noticed I hadn't been paid for a while. I tried to log in and it wouldn't work. I contacted them and they told me my account had been canceled. They refused to explain why, and they wouldn't even explain when they had done it. My account was just gone, and they told me that I was prohibited from doing business with them again for life.

I don't go out of my way to do anything with, or for, Google anymore. I prefer to do business with companies that will actually tell me what's going on.

Banning is not a concern anymore if you are following the guidelines. They always send email/warnings if you commit minor mistakes like duplicate content. Support now is easy to reach.

I do not post here much but this caught my attention due to my experience in the advertising industry.

As everyone has said, Get your website up, Run it through various tests to confirm everything is running optimally, "gtmetrix.com and seositecheckup.com" are good starting points.

I own and operate an ad optimization platform and whoever wrote, "adsense is dead" has a point. But it really does depend on your niche, traffic quality, placements, and content quality. People still have the ability to specifically target campaigns through AdWords on your website, which can lead to amazing results like windjc mentioned.

Many people in my world tend to avoid AdSense and use it as a passback in their advertising waterfall. I cannot remember the exact year, approximately 2012, AdSense dropped from a tier 1 ad network to a tier 2 ad network. The reason for this is the CPC model combined with ad blindness. Very large companies started using AdSense for brand awareness rather than conversions. By brand awareness I simply mean they do not give a @#$K if you click on the ad, as long impression leaves an imprint in your subconscious.

A quick example might be a display campaign of a new soft-drink by coca cola. They have no intention of generating conversions or even clicks, in a sense they attempt to avoid clicks entirely. They simply want the impression to show as often as possible to create awareness across a broad audience. This essentially killed AdSense for the majority of publishers.

Once you start to generate regular traffic, I recommend researching Ad Networks that specialize in your niche. Then if all else fails you can always have your ads passback to AdSense, Amazon, or similar.

In my own personal experience - not until you start getting 500+ daily views - that's the point at which the earnings become noticeable. People don't necessarily hate ads (and if they do, they have adblock installed anyway) , or will stop going to your site when you put ads up, but I like to spend the few months that the website is getting indexed/ranked by Google by just putting out high quality, useful content.

As for "alternative" ad networks...as far as I know, most of them require serious traffic (10k+ daily) to even apply.

Wait till you start getting some traffic as ads on a new blog can put off some visitors

My Advice: I first began with in 2008 to 2014, I made a lot of money with them, but in the long run you will make much more money selling a product. It's better you learn that. But it just my opinion.

my advice for you is: If you have already got the approval with Adsense, slap some units on your site, but don't expect a lot from them. Don't focus on how much they bring for now, focus on growing your website, and when you will reach 1k unique per days, rethink about your adsense strategy.

As said by other warriors, you need to maintain 50 quality articles with 400-600 words each and go from there . Than you can keep your Google Ads Code to start getting income from it.

adsense is definitely the best display ads for publishers who aren't super high rollers. You could put your adsense ads up once your site is fully completed. They won't accept you before then anyway,..

Well, AdSense is quite worthwhile to me, but in a rather unconventional way. I earn about the monthly minimum on the program, my sites and other products with direct-sold advertising generate several tens of thousands of dollars in sales. However, I also have the rather unique status of being the only (twice, once validly) disabled AdSense publisher to be a Top Contributor on the Google AdSense help forums, and that has netted several expense-paid trips for meet-ups and summits and some rather interesting and valuable relationships.

My perception, mostly helping in the death-star world of the "disabled accounts" section, is that AdSense can be a valid and effective income source, but it is unwise to rely on it primarily, and also to be very careful about your traffic sources and content. If you have natural organic traffic because your site earns genuine search results (without gaming the system) then, yes, you'll make some money -- especially if you are in higher-paid niches. However, if you try to force things to generate the traffic (especially through social media or grey/black hat SEO) Google will come back to bite you. Worse, and saddest, are the people who try arbitrage -- that is buying advertising and traffic with the hopes that viewers will click on their ads. Their AdSense account gets disabled -- but they are stuck with the advertising bills.

In the end, a sign of a viable publishing/advertising supported business is that you can sell your own ads directly. If you can, you'll make far more money than you can earn with any brokered network, and you can use AdSense in the way it is used by the major conventional publishers-- as a supplement or top up to their own direct-sold advertising.

Traffic amount should be at least 5000-10000
This figure is considerable for adsense but even more for affiliation with a good company as compared to adsense.

I don't make much money on my websites VIA Adsense - I make most of my non-affiliate-related revenue based on the Adsense ads on my Youtube page. Though related to the amount of views my most successful video gets, the money is pretty weak.

In regards to "disabled accounts", there is some level of risk with AdSense but you can reduce this risk from the start.

As with any business, you can reduce your risk and expenses and you need to have a solid plan as Stockbob55 have mentioned.

But this is all achievable. I may not be not making millions from AdSense, but it is sufficient enough to sustain my lifestyle.

There are WAY BETTER WAYS to monetize your traffic then Google adsense, in my opinion, Google adsense is a complete waste of time..I have been marketing online for many years now..And I would never help Google make money, getting paid pennies is not a good scenerio..

I gave up on adsense a long time ago and went with paid membership sites. If you give everything away for free, no one values it. There is always a market if your content is of high enough quality. Those old re-spun articles and public domain content don't cut it anymore.

Recently got a payment from Google, small amount. If you have visitors it is worthy to try. No matter what people says, Google does pays a lot. You just need to know the tricks.

First make sure you get quality targeted traffic.

Then monetize with CPA and/or Affiliate offers.

Native Advertising is slowly killing Adsense . People find the Native Ads to be interesting even when they are not exactly related to the contents page. Companies like Taboola or Outbrain have Native Ads and they pay CPC. But a company named ayboll.com pays CPA and CPC together. They have amazing converting ads and will pay an average of $25 to $35 per sale on top of paying for clicks.

Ok so here it is coming from someone who actually made pretty good money via Google Adsense. So this is not guessing or random theories. The only thing I must say is that I did generate revenue through Adsense for the last time in 2012 (when they banned by account do to invalid click activity but if you've been around the internet for a while, you know this happens to tons of people that didn't do anything invalid but I was one of those people).

Anyway, don't feel bad for me. You live and you learn eh..

So it is worthwhile? Of course it is, if your website has the traffic that converts well for the Google Adsense program. I haven't seen what's going on with Adsense lately but I can tell you I read the SAME "is google adsense dead" stuff back in 2009-2012 where people wanted to know if it was worth it. Many said no. If I would have listened to them, I wouldn't have been making the income I was able to with Adsense.

When it comes to adsense, it's all about traffic as with everything on the internet.

If you are primarily looking to monetize your website/websites with Adsense, then you better be in the right niche. What I mean by this is a nice paying CPC niche that advertisers are willing to spend money on. Also in my experiences, I stayed away from Techy nerd niches, they seemed to never click ads which lead to lower conversions or click thru rates.

Focus on niches where people like to shop/spend money on compulsive buys. Women do this well (no offense to the women out there reading this) but some of my highest converting websites were in the niches of women's shoes.

You can look around the internet for case studies I suppose but nothing is going to be better than testing it out yourself and looking at your own metrics.

BUT here's a word of caution though. As mentioned before, I was banned from Adsense back in 2012 and this CRUSHED me at the time. So DO NOT put all your eggs in the Google Adsense basket.

Use it to supplement your websites income but have other sources of revenue throughout your website. There are WAY to many horror stories of people being banned without a real reason.

So should you use them? Yes, no reason not to.
Should you ONLY have adsense on your site? Nope, diversify and build smarter.

For newbies or beginners - stay away from adsense - you're better off promoting affiliate products. As mentioned many times by other forum participants - you really need lots of real visitors to your site to generate revenue from adsense. As a matter of fact - I have finally closed my adsense account for good.

For certain niches, yes it is worth it. CPM networks plus adsense on video/image sites is very easy money!

two trains of thought often go into this. On one hand some say earn your credit and respect before putting on advertising. On the other hand the clock is ticking and you need to be tracking data to understand what works.

Adsense is good on sites that are informative and content rich sites. To earn good amount of money you need lots of traffic. If your website attracts targeted traffic and your content is about a specific micro niche then promoting affiliate products from clickbank or Amazon will earn you more. 100 targeted people on Clickbank affiliate website may generate 2-3 sales giving you $50-$100 in revenue. On the other hand 100 visitors on Adsense site can earn you only $1-$10 in most of the cases.

I have used adsense starting 2006, and it is a good source of income for high traffic sites but with no real targetting or general sites. It is not working very well on blogs or news websites. On all websites I had, when I figured out what products my visitors would buy, putting affiliate links instead of ads tripled the income and improved the quality of the website, because affiliate links can be added trough the content, unlike google ads all over the website.
