Monetizing with Taboola - low CPC?

So i got accepted with taboola and placed their native ads on my site. Was really excited but that was quickly changed once i saw the cpc. The most I would get per click was maybe 4 or 5 cents. Yesterday I got 60 clicks which only made me 60 cents.. that's only a 1 cent CPC! So crazy low. Adsense can make more more on a single click!

Can any others monetizing with Taboola or any other native ad network comment on their experience?

What about Outbrain? They are paying very well for US traffic

TS, are your figures for USA traffic?

If not, which countries are your visitors from?

CPC networks pay different rates for different countries.

Makes a lot of sense actually.

I get around 20 cents per click sometimes more. It probably depends on your traffic quality like with everything else.

But all of my traffic is coming from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, etc. Not like its coming from really poor countries, so I don't know what the problem is here.

I had same experience with Taboola and i then switch to Content.ad they pay me .06 to 0.08$ which is way better than Taboola. I am trying to have luck with RevContent now. I will share the results of RevContent once i had enough data to take average.

Depends on the niche you're in as well.

A lot of factors are contributing to your low earnings.

    UPDATE

So I ended up getting rid of Taboola as I was making much more with Adsense. Instead of giving the clicks away for a penny to taboola, I'd rather have more likelyhood to get an adsense click which could literally give me 100% more than what taboola would... cheap *******s

So just trying to get my head around it, are you functioning as an advertiser and getting cheap clicks or vise versa?

I also removed Taboola after seeing 3-4 cent clicks on U.S. traffic.

I put up Content.ad instead and get an average of 10 cents per click (average of all worldwide traffic) now.

Revcontent, Adblade and Outbrain are also good.

I assume that's why lots of people buy cheap traffic from Taboola to use for traffic arbitrage.

You're getting 10 cents with Content.ad? I thought they were a CPA network.. so you only get paid if someone clicks the ad and makes a purchase. Thought it'd be more difficult to make more with that.

Besides the traffic origin issue I raised above, you might want to pay attention to the possible fix below.

If you’re having a tough time with cost-per-click rates with Taboola, you always need to keep in mind that you can balance this out.

Sure, the value per click may be low because of the geographic origin of your traffic but you can look for an offset.

The obvious offset is the volume of clicks.

So, if your cost-per-click is low due to the fact that most of your traffic from non-tier one countries, you shouldn’t worry too much if you know how to pump up a click-through ratio.

There are a lot of ethical tricks you could employ to increase traffic ratio.

One of the most common that I’ve seen is to simply break down your content into more pages instead of putting all your content into one long page, look into many different pages.

Why do many different pages work when compared to one page?

Well, when you spread out your content over several pages, you are essentially exploding the number of page views.

Since your chances of increasing your CTR can be increased by giving your traffic more chances to click on your Taboola ads, then this makes sense.

However, you need to do it right.

Here’s a secret, look up as many different Taboola advertisers as you can.

Pay attention to how they set up their pages.

Pay attention to the kinds of ads that appear and how those ads are set up.

This should give you a clue as to how to maximize CTR.
