Finally Clickbank has conversion tracking!

Not sure if this is old news ( I don't think) but I just found it today so am very excited to know that we can place conversion tracking pixel directly into CB now.

It had been a task by itself to track each keyword and landing page to the sales pages, but this will make it much easier as it integrates with adwords and google analytics and yahoo. If you like to get the exact steps, here it is;

Integrated Sales Reporting

  • Ah, it's a shame this is only for Google and Yahoo!. I advertise in a lot of other places, still gotta import commission reports to track those.

    • I took a peak at the new ClickBank analytics today. It looks very cool... and compared to what they had previously (nothing!), I'd call it an excellent step in the right direction. I'm looking forward to learning more about its full capabilities.
  • yes I already tried it on a few campaigns of mine, what a relief and save me so much time. I wish they had come out a bit sooner.

I'm also interested to know this for I am doing full campaign with cb now..
  • This maybe a pretty advanced question but maybe someone can answer it:

Clickbank seems to report "View of a key page" as a conversion. While it is cool to know which keywords trickered a View of a key page, it is wrong conversion data, in the sense that there wasn't necessarily a sale involved (the customer only looked at the order-page). This leads to the problem that you have too much conversions and can't optimize your ROI correctly in Adwords.

How can you a) use only the real conversion inside of Adwords (which is also reported by Clickbank) or b) turn off the "View of a key page" conversion reporting in Clickbank, so that you only get real conversions reported?
  • Ok yes I do alot of business with clickbank products, this new tracking feature can be used with any form of advertising? Or just google and yahoo etc?
  • I've always wondered how people can optimize ad/keywords to clickbank sales without the pixel tracking. Seems like a hassle to me!
  • Yes, at the moment only Google and Yahoo, but my guess is that will be expanded.

Who can answer the question 2 posts above?
  • I will await to see who can answer that one as its not me :-(
  • Is there a solution to the false conversions being reported (View of a keypage) yet? (I described it above)

    • You posted this several months ago so I don't know if you have found the solution or not yet.

If you have not, then everything is explained in the clickbank help section located here:

      Integrated Sales Reporting
  • You do know that Clickbank has supported sub-id's for awhile, right?

    • Me? Yes I do

However, note that the topic of this thread is not about clickbank tids. It's about a quite recent feature (just a few months old) which is the integration of adwords (among a few other PPC engines like Yahoo) conversion tracking.

It means that you can see directly from your adwords account for example which keywords lead to a sale.

Are we talking about the same thing or did you think we were talking about the "&tid=" URL attribute?

  • I am really late on picking up this feature of CB and I have a major query that I hope someone here can help me out with.

This is a question regarding "Integrated Sales Reporting".
I am trying to integrate this into Google Analytics. I am an Affiliate of various products on CB, am not a Vendor.
I looked up the instructions at Integrated Sales Reporting

At Step 6, they say "Define the Goal URL as the Thank You Page". Do they mean the thank-you page that the vendor forwards to after order completion?
If yes, How do I find this out? Is there any other way to find the "Thank you Page" URL apart from contacting each vendor ?
And a slightly techie question:- Can't I just use the "Regular Expression value" (that they mention in step #8) for Goal URL?

I have pasted the relevant portions below.

#1 Log in to Google Analytics
#2 Click Edit next to the website profile you wish to track
#3 Configure Conversion Goals and Funnel by clicking Edit to the right
#4 Set Active Goal to On
#5 Set the Match Type to Regular Expression Match
#6 Define the Goal URL as the Thank You Page
#7 Provide an appropriate Goal Name and Value
#8 Define the sales funnel in the following way:

    1. Replace the Step 1 value with the Product Pitch Page URL
    2. Make Step 2 the ClickBank Order Form visit with the following value: ^/order/orderform\.html.*$
    3. Make Step 3 the ClickBank Success Page with the following value: ^/order/ordersuccess\.html.*$

    #9 Click Save Changes

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a ton.
  • Nice!

Was about freakin time they did this. I asked about tracking 3 years ago ... ah well, at least they came thru in the end.

  • Clickbank have been really putting their act together these last few years.
  • Thats why clickbank is the most popular affiliate program so far.In many major affiliate programs you will not get this conversion tracking benefit.

    • Does anyone know how to setup this conversion tracking (like Clickbank shows for Adwords) with MS Adcenter?

Clickbanks Integrated Sales Tracking article mentions Adcenter but doesn't show how to implement it. Only Adwords.

      Thanks,
  • thanks for the news
