Both. You need to find your own angle and your own audience that everyone else isn't targeting. And you need to test, track, refine, and then adapt when things change.

In addition to doing it correctly and understanding your niche, I think you should also need to keep up with what's new and try different things that keep popping out.

CPA is more profitable than ever really. Anyone who thinks the ability to make money with CPA is waning is probably just struggling to hit a profit themselves. MaxBounty's continued growth and positive feedback is just one testament to this.

That being said, that doesn't mean it's easy. You'll need to put in a lot of work and time to start making significant money from any form of affiliate marketing. If you're dedicated enough you'll get there though. Just look at all the people on this forum who are finding success. They all once started out probably wondering the same thing.

CPA can be very profitable if you have the right traffic and offer. I think it's one of my favorite business models, considering that you only have to deal with a few people to make it work, and once you have a few profitable campaigns it's easy to scale and replicate.

The most important thing is capturing the lead. You can get people to opt-in using an education/ job related angle and monetize them on the backend with CPA offers. I find surveys, biz-opps work well.
