Vendor Collects Opt-In Emails

Hi,

When I promote Clicksure, Clickbank etc and the landing page collects opt-in emails, do I get commission for sales made from the email sequence?

Or am I just sending the product vendor free traffic?

Thanks

    Hi

It depends. The only way to know for sure is to subscribe to the vendor's mailing list and see if he's using his own affiliate link to overwrite yours or not.

    It's easy to find out.

STEP 1 - Click on your affiliate link.
STEP 2 - Click on his links (in his emails)
STEP 3 - Go to the order page and check if your affiliate ID is still there (On CB, it's in the footer)

If your affiliate ID is still there, then his newsletter will make you sales. If not, don't promote that product!

It varies by vendor and sometimes by offer even under the same vendor. Some vendors will tell you on their affiliate page if they promote your link in their emails or how cookies are set and kept and some will not. Like the previous poster said, you can find out if your affiliate link is used by signing up for the list yourself.

However, there are 2 things to keep in mind. One is that even if a direct, non-affiliate link is used in the vendor emails, the vendor may honor cookies for an extended length of time and may not reset or overwrite the cookie for a direct, non-affiliate link from their own emails. If the vendor doesn't state his cookie policy on his affilate page, then you should contact them and ask if you want to know this.

The other thing to keep in mind is to never sign up for any Cost Per Lead CPA offer under your affiliate link. And if you decide to buy a Cost Per Sale CPA product yourself after signing up for their email list, make sure you don't buy through your affiliate link and clear your cookies or use a different browser to make sure not to break any rules that could get your account shut down.

      Thnaks JC.

So does anyone know about Clicksure specifically? I have been sending allot of traffic to offers there and had very few sales. I feel like I'm just building their lists for them...

There doesn't seem to be a way to check if your affiliate ID is being used like there is with Clickbank's cart page.

      Thanks

Clicksure isn't a vendor/advertiser, so they're not the ones who are getting customers on their lists. It's the individual advertisers whose products you are promoting that own the lists. So, the answer wouldn't be the same for all products on Clicksure.

As far as Clicksure as a network, there are mixed reviews. They do have a higher rate of refunds and voided commissions than the major networks.

What VitaVee said - but truthfully, some pages convert so well that the optin leak doesn't really matter.

I view the optin link as a "sales page leak". It's an opportunity for you to lose your sale. Some CB affiliates will capture your affiliate id - they'll usually disclose as such in the affiliates tools page.

Some of the health products I've promoted have had different landing page options so you can select one that doesn't capture email.

Email the affiliate manager and see what's up.

No, you won't get credited for that. But the sales page having an optin form do convert well sometimes. But mostly i would avoid these kind of sales pages, its like building list to them for free.

Many affiliates see it that way. I personally think it's not a bad idea to promote a product if there's an optin form on the page.

Let me ask you one question: If you're afraid of building the vendor's list, then why promote his product in the 1st place? Each sale you will bring him will put one more customer in his list.

Of course the reason is because you're getting a commission.

So consider this: when you send him visitors, just a small fraction of them will buy the product the 1st time they see it.

Most of the time, if they leave, you lose (of course some of them will come back later and buy while they're still cookied with your affiliate id - but still).

But if they subscribe to the vendor's list, AND if the vendor is honest and not overwriting your affiliate link with his own in the email sequence, then it is a win-win for both of you. You will both make more money.
