CPA offers on cell phones? AdMob in particular?

Hello to all!

I have been lurking on WF for sometime now, and once again ran into an instance where I need the forum's expertise. Please help!

I have been reading a lot of threads recently that express promoting CPA offers on the 3 big PPC engines is a black hat method, and it's only a matter of time until you get slapped. Does anybody have any experience advertising their CPA offers on cell phones using a program like AdMob?

From what I understand, clicks are usually extremely cheap even in high competition markets (.04-.06 cents) there are almost unlimited impressions available, and simple name and email opt-ins convert crazy well, but again... This could all be hype stirred up by gurus and AdMob themselves.

Does anyone know from personal experience what kind of results one can expect from advertising CPA offers on cell phones? i.e. average conversion rates, cpc, what kind of offers work best, etc etc

I really appreciate any advice anyone can give, I have been at this IM thing for a couple years now and have had little to no success. I am hoping this resource will push me to the next level!

Thanks again!

Alex

Save yourself a lot of money & heartache and do not advertise with cell phones, nothing seems to convert, period...

Unless you have money to burn (for split testing and tweaking) I'd stay away from admob. They can be VERY profitable, but be prepared to lose a lot of money before you have a profitable campaign.

There is definitely a potential using the cell phone cash system but you really need to do your research and promote something that is free to enter.Certain email and zip submit offers will work well for cell phone. You can also build a list through cell phone and then market to them later.

Promoting CPA offers on the big 3 is blackhat?

    I don't think so.

      Hi all

I am sure you know there is another very detailed thread on this subject, I have made 39 posts there with details of my experiences.

      http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...cash-what.html

Mack's Cell Phone Cash and support is one of the worst I have experienced, no one in the thread has had any support tickets answered. No one has been able to make what he teaches make money.

There is no need to buy his course, just join Admod for free, read all their free information and use your head it is all pretty logical - also Google mobile marketing and visit and learn from the many sites and networks.

I advise people to only use iphone optimized landing pages, a quick video with free opt-in, triggering more info via email to up sell later on as they visit your main sales website.

I also say it again that the misuse of skilled copying writing has sucked in a lot of people with this deal. Its more of a story than fact, indeed well over the border of mythical.

I hate to talk bad about someone's product since I don't know what the intentions were when this CPCash product was created and sold to the public. Everyone here seems to have done that for me. But I will say this....

I've been in the mobile marketing industry since '99 and I've done a lot of campaigns with small mom and pop businesses and countless Fortune 500 companies. I've promoted everything from soda to the launch of a TV show - all on a cell phone. I know the people that started Third Screen Media (acquired by Microsoft), Ipsh.net (acquired by Omnicom - one of the worlds largest ad agencies), Virgin Mobile, Admob, Dodgeball (acquired and then shut down by Google), etc, etc. I've been blessed with a great career, but I only mention it so you all know that I know this industry very well.

I've been through the CPCash course. (Yes, I paid for it too). I can tell you all that everything in that course is just flat wrong. It will only get your account shut down with Admob/Google and you will end up losing whatever money you put into your campaigns. That has been said time and time again, but I cannot stress to you how important it is to pretty much forget whatever you were "taught" in this course.

If you want to have a successful mobile marketing campaign then do not try to sell on mobile. Selling make-money-now products on a mobile phone will NOT work. Your offer should be more fun oriented and prompt people to enter their mobile number and/or email address. Having a user call an inbound call center or come to your store would be another option, but asking him to enter his credit card number on his cell phone for a product and company that he is not familiar with will not work. Our market is not mature enough for that yet.

My question is.... Is there any GOOD course that shows people how to get involved with mobile marketing?

If you have one please share it with me so I can take a look at it. If you want any help with your mobile marketing please feel free to ask or PM. I'll do what I can to help out.

Sounds to me like you should create it. Then WSO it here.

Please send me a review copy first, of course, so you'll have at least one glowing testimonial to include...

I'm literally editing my course now. But my main concern is about the software that I will be offering. But I would love to get some opinions about the ebook that I've written. I'll send it to you when I get it finished.

What are the steps to doing a WSO anyway? (As you can see I'm just now learning my way around here).

I concur with cassman. You seem to have excellent EXPERIENCE in the real world trenches of mobile marketing. I know guys like Gauher Chaudhry and others are making a mint in mobile marketing but haven't revealed the tactics they're using.

Your advice of fun & free where they only have to enter their phone, email or zip code is sound.

Who likes typing on those tiny cell phone keyboards?

Also, you mentioned having them call a number or come into your store which I also believe would work. With your experience you could create an excellent product. You could also show some screen shots of your admob and google mobile accounts for proof.

Here's a question.... Is everyone here more interested in mobile marketing or mobile advertising?

One thing that needs to be mentioned is that mobile advertising is still best suited for people who own these kinds of businesses:
          - Brick and mortar store (movie theatre, night club, clothing store, etc)
          - In-bound call center (you need great sales people for this)
          - Entertainment business (radio or TV show, jokes, games, apps, etc)

As you noticed I did not put information based businesses on that list. That is for mobile marketing. I can explain further if need be/wanted.

      Hello,

I just signed up to this site because I saw this post. I know it is a little old but you were asking for a good online course. In case you're still interested I just paid $70 for one called Cell Phone Treasure. While I have not had a lot of success yet (which is actually the reason I am writing this) it still seems legit to me, and I see other people acknowledging it..

Anyway as I said I am having some difficulties getting a good conversion on my ads, and I am extremely interested in receiving help and advice on this.

I am currently a publisher with Sponsormob (optimized CPA offers for cell phones, but in my opinion weak and too few offers), MaxBounty, Azoogle, LinkShare, Zanox and Commision Junction. I use admob to run my campaigns.

So as of now I have only done campaigns for $100 dollars. $50 was wasted on a clickbank product people needed to purchase, which isn't happening a lot on cell phones. Out of the last $50 I earned around $18 on an offer called "win an iPad", which I imagined would be pretty attractive. I guess it wasn't - or maybe there was just too much information to fill out.

So I realize I'm still very new to this (started the cell phone treasure course a little more than two weeks ago and started my first campaign 5 days ago), and I know I can make adjustments and changes, but I just don't see how. After finding a good offer and giving it an attractive banner and ad text it seems totally out of my hands what's going to happen.

Please, what do you recommend I do? I'm not even sure how I can be sure if the offers will be shown properly on a cell phone (I mean a smartphone will probably show nearly all of them, but older phones using WAP might not - I just don't know).

I sincerely hope you can help me out. Ever since I started this course I have barely had anything else than achieving success with this business on my mind, so it's a hard bummer to earn $18 out of an iPad campaign I felt would be very attractive to many people

Sorry about the length of this message, but I had to give a few details on my situation here. Again, I hope you can give me just a little advice. Thanks in advance.

      Regards
      Oliver

    Alexander,

You can see a sample of a mobile site with the click to call feature and the contact form on moneymakers.mobi. I have not included admob or mobile adsense on this particular site, but do see wonderful potential with a catchy landing page made for mobile viewing. Maybe we can test some out for fellow warriors. Silho, let me know if interested in putting something like this together for a test.

Click to call is awesome. Was wondering if there was a way to have an admob ad or google mobile ad which when the user clicked it would call the number. Is that possible?

I realize you are talking about the user visiting your site while on their iphone and clicking the call button from there.

Actually, all smart phones recognize 5 or more numbers as an active link so that when you click/touch a set of numbers on a web page they will automatically give you an option to place a call. Some recognize three or numbers.

Since I keep running into a ton of people who have had serious issues with CPCash and I keep having to help undo the damage I've decided to help out in a major way. A couple of other people here in the forum have asked me to share my experience in mobile marketing with everyone. I started writing a book about mobile marketing a long time ago and just finished and copyrighted it. Since I would like the feedback on my book I am willing to share it with anyone that wants an advanced copy.

I hate to tell you that's it over 200 pages long (and I still have more information that held back on), but I really put a lot into it. Just PM me and I'll send you a copy of it. Please keep in mind that this book is about 'mobile marketing' and not 'mobile advertising'. There is a major difference. I will create another book/video/content package about mobile advertising in about two months.

In the mean time if anyone has any questions about mobile marketing please feel free to drop me a line.

Oh yeah, they would lose their mind. I've used Admob for some clients when I was consulting with some ad agencies and in my opinion its a crap shoot. The problem that a lof of people have is that they want to use mobile to advertise their offer. You are NOT going to make with mobile advertising that way.

CPA offers and biz opps and make-money offers do not work well on mobile yet. Use mobile to collect opt-ins and do your follow up that way. Ugh, its a lot easier than you think. I will put together a quick two page report on this and show everyone what to do.

Mobile advertising is NOT mobile marketing. Please understand that there is a major difference.

Sorry it took so long to get an evaluation copy of of my mobile marketing book out to everyone. I was dealing with viruses, trojans and all sorts of stuff on my server - gotta love hackers. I've also had someone try to bootleg my ebook. I'm glad its copyrighted. (I'll deal with that person later). It's been a crazy couple of weeks.

Nonetheless, I have an evaluation copy for you to look at. The full version is over 250 pages long, but this version is only 130+ pages. I've had to lock it up with an eBook software from The Internet Marketing Center (eBook Publishing Software: Make money online with eBook Pro) to keep the losers from trying to take credit for my work. You can download a copy at
    http://www.mobilemafiabook.com/Mobile_Mafia.exe (PC)
    or
    http://www.mobilemafiabook.com/Mobile_Mafia.zip (Mac)

Upon downloading the book you are asked to drop your name, email, and mobile number (at least) in the form to register. I would stress the importance of putting your real information in the form. I will be giving out a ton of free mobile marketing information and showing people how to start their own mobile marketing business. The best discounts and pre-release information will go to those that are on my list - particularly my mobile list. (Don't you love the slight underhanded sense of pressure)?

Please let me know what your thoughts are about the book, and if you like it I would love a testimonial. I only have about 22 right now, but I want 50 in total.

    Thank you,

    Silho

I would say don't touch Admob at all unless you have a free app you want to get users on. Thats the only way to be successful with it. They don't target their ads too well (just yet) so that is why you people are blowing trough hundreds of dollars in a couple of hours.

If you have a free iphone or android app (the only good targeting they do is by phone type) and you a lot of people to get use it then advertising in a mobile network will work for you. Other than that people are not ready to buy from their cell phone and you will waste your money.

Just DL'ed and read. All I can say is, wow. Just wow.

Very detailed, very thorough. Clearly a market in its infancy, and one you know quite well. My only complaint is that this is just half the book! I really want to read Chapter 10, "Consider a New Business in Wireless" and then I *really* want to read Chapter 12, "BONUS ROUND, Your Brand, Money-Making, Mobile Business in a Box" but MOST of all I want to read Chapter 14, "Secret Bonus: Quick Start Guide to Starting a Mobile Business." Bring it on!

Thanks for the love. Since I've already had bootlegging issues some of those chapters I cannot release until the full version is ready (in about two weeks). I will be doing a WSO very soon so I wil be giving away one of those chapters and showing everyone exactly how to create a profitable mobile business in about two weeks.

I hope my release goes better than the Cell Phone Cash release. LOL

Since I haven't been doing too great yet this would really be great to see. Hope someone can help..Thanks

Everyone tried Mobile Monopoly. Do a search here in the WF, and you will see the reactions to that product.

Here is the plain truth about Mobile Monopoly:

      http://www.warriorforum.com/internet...ly-review.html

I do agree that mobile marketing will be an important piece of this game in the near future. However, I consider this product very misleading for the very same reasons exposed by the OP in the thread above.

William, thank you for that link. I wasn't able to find it while on my mobile phone earlier. I wish a lot more people saw it the way you do.

That course was garbage, I would safely call it a scam.

I still think that Admob, MobGold or any other ad network still going to develop further, we may not know what the trends of tomorrow. they might just suited the market just right.

agree, but they're gonna need a good marketing strategy and prove themselves trustworthy to stay in the game...

I really don't think that the mobile networks have to prove to be trust worthy. They've already done that, and they work well - if you know what products to advertise on them.

I've worked with Admob and Millennium Mobile when I worked with advertising agencies. I never had a problem with them. The difference with the world of advertising agencies and the Internet marketing world is you don't have all of these sharks telling you that you can promote your ebooks on mobile networks and "make a killing."

We sell what we know will close or we just go after the download or submission. Yes, the networks have their issues (just like the PPC networks) but my agency and marketing firm clients have a different outlook so the campaigns work much better for them.

What needs to happen in the IM space is the top sellers need to stop making lofty promises and misleading the marketplace. Buyers need to realize that these guys are salesmen. They are direct marketers, not network marketers. They are definitely NOT advertisers and brand managers, and do not understand the world of big brand advertising (since they do not live in that world). It's very difficult for me to take race car driving tips from a guy that flies planes. Close, but no cigar.

        Just think about it!

AdMob is very troubling thing, and called for an end to the company.

I jotted down more scenarios and considered trading out my haste gear for crit gear, since it didn't require losing any spellpower. I wondered about diminishing returns, raid buffs, and crit from intellect. The more I thought, the more the variables started to pile up around me and it wasn't long before I realized I should get some more qualified help. So, I gathered up my notes and went off to see Zusterke. Come on! What are you waiting for? Remember us always feed you the most exceptional service as well as fastest delivery. Silho, you mentioned advertising the right products on mobile...I advertised an app using Admob and sent more than 1000 clicks to the buy page with no sales... granted, I could have used a landing page, better description on the buy-page, etc, but if an app isn't the right product to advertise on iPhones, what would be?

Apps are usually the best types of products to advertise, but you have to remember that mobile networks are usually full of accidental clicks. What I mean by that is that most of the time users accidentally click on an ad and have not intention of doing so or making a purchase. That may be what happened to you.

Most of the time the best coversions are when you offer something for free and then upsell the user later. Trying to sell an app no one is familar with with no reviews and no sneak peak or free trial or without good copy and proven sales track record, etc normally just does not work too well.

You will really need to get a handle on your sales material before you call it a bust, and make sure you're targeting your offer as much as possible.
