Free Trial - Is it possible?....

Hey guys...

Over the last week I had a few really good days with CPA free trials in terms of conversion rates.

As I use PPC and can track most sales, some of these stood out because I couldnt track where they came from. I currently don't track my organic traffic so I had assumed these sales where through my organic seo efforts.

But then it occurred to me... would/could/have competitors done fraudulent sales in order to screw you with your cpa network? ie insert fake cc's to make your cpa network think you doing the dodge in order to ban you?

This sounds pretty far off and because its a CC submit and highly unlikely but the thought came to mind and wondered if anyone has had something like this happen to them or heard of this happening?

Cheers
Will

I would say its possible but unlikely. I can only see competitors trying something like this if you have a large percentage of the market or at least for the keyword they are also competing in.

It sounds like you probably dont enough sales where competitors will go out of their way to mess with you. Possible though.

It's possible, but I have never heard of it, normally people do this to there own accounts and still expect to get paid

Yeh definitely wouldn't do it for my account... its just stupid... being transparent and honest is by far the best way to grow a great IM business in the long term.

It just occurred to me that maybe some people may want to sabotage your business this way. Unlikely but I thought I would throw it out there!

Doubtful someone is dropping a CC to commit fraud. At that low of volume it wouldn't hurt you anyway.

Your competitors would still have had to click from somewhere. So if the organic is the only one not being tracked assume it's coming from there. How many competitors are on the front page with you in organic?

If you are truly concerned then contact the network and have them check with the advertiser. If it was fraud you can also assume that the person immediately called and canceled the free trial.

Like others have said, possible, but unlikely.

I'd say don't spend anymore time worrying about it, and instead start tracking your traffic!
