Hi,

Is CPA suitable for beginners?

  • The simple answer is no. I personally would not recommend it for beginners as there is a lot more work that needs to go into it than people claim.

  • CPA, like affiliate marketing, is simply promoting other companies offers.

I've been doing it for a little over 17 years.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of straight sale offers. However, mass appeal needs to exist and I look for one of the following to also exists:

    1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

    2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

    3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, most of the non-PPL offers I will promote on the back-end.

For me, PPL has proven to create the path of least resistance for generating conversions / $$$, It's just far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

    Something to think about.

  • of course beginner can join cpa network but if I have one message for it is this..

prepare to lose money and fail. If not just walk away. Of course you can try free traffic sources to promote but your ability to make big would depend on scaling.

If you can pick one offer and promote that offer with various traffic sources and learn from it, you've graduated from from newbie to intermediate. Because for the next offer, you will take the same steps, see you will know its not that hard anymore. But if you jump here and there and here again. May be you come across some buy boasting thousand grand from weird traffic source and now you really want that. If you go chasing this new guy, you're back to square zero.
There is blueprint for success and that is dedication , perseverance and your desire to continue no matter what, until you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Think about this, if you do 1 pushup and say to yourself that it's hard, would you ever lose weight?

  • CPA is really hard to get profitable for a beginner with no previous experience or successful campaigns.

CPA needs a budget to test offers. And guess what: you won't be lucky the first time your try to promote an offer. ( I would suggest a minimum of $500 just for testing )

I won't lie to you, CPA is a very very very BAD idea if you are just starting out. I lost a lot while trying to make things work, luckily I had some money that I didn't mind losing, it might not be the case for some.

Unless you are planning to use FREE methods to promote CPA offers, don't go that route if you don't have the budget.

  • Yes, it is.
Beginners have to promote the CPA/CPS campaign because they don't have that much traffic to pick the CPV or CPM campaign, in CPV & CPM campaign you have to achieve the targets but in CPA/CPS there is no target you will get the commission on per sale/action.

So there are fewer challenges for the beginners.

you can easily begin with admitad, an international CPA affiliate network. admitad helps beginners to grow more.
    Thanks)

  • Well it's a passive source of income for some. Everyone started as beginners by the way.
  • Excellent point. I feel the same way, however, if you are just starting out, I would have to say that any experience is good. Moreover, starting with CPA can be rather discouraging at times.
  • Agreed to jaouadk
