How CPA Allowed Me To Quit My Job.

I was working a sales job about a year and a half ago. I was selling pianos, so as you can probably imagine the store wasn't exactly overflowing with prospective customers.

So, I had plenty of time to learn all about internet marketing.

My very first foray into adwords + CPA was a HUGE success. I took the "webfetti" offer on Azoogle, it's a myspace toolbar, bid on one keyword on the content network "myspace", and proceeded to make about $5,000 that month off of that ONE KEYWORD.

I quit my job shortly after that. The webfetti gravy train didn't last long, and I ventured into other niches, insurance, information, education, and dating.

Dating is still my bread and butter. The networks pay $2-$4 for a free sign up, and believe me, convincing single guys to sign up for a free lead in hopes they'll get laid is, and always will be, an easy sell.

One of these days we'll look back and call these the "Good Old Days" of affiliate marketing.

So for you guys who aren't getting involved and trying new things, I recommend you start now. My first attempt was a huge success. I've had many failures since then, but I've learned from them all.

It's only going to get harder from this point on, so I'd recommend that you new guys get started as soon as possible. There's money to be made right now. No one knows where affiliate marketing will be in 10 years, I'm cashing in while I can, I recommend that you do the same.

Good luck!

-Scott

Congratulations Scott on your success. I started trying CPA about 6 weeks ago because of an offer I bought here at the forum. I am using Media Traffic and Copeac for the CPA programs, but I can get some clicks for weight loss programs, but only one lead out of thousands of impressions. So, the trick must be the landing page where people click on an ad to go to the merchant's site - just my guess. Are you just using the banner ads from the merchant on your own URL, or do you design your own text or other ads yourself on the landing page they have to click on ? I am finding it very difficult and the book I bought doesn't seem to cover the problems you might encounter.

    Thanks very much.

    Have a nice weekend.

eric just gave you the complete layout. promote to a niche, get them to your site, get them on your list, then direct them to the cpa offer.
btw- don't get married to the offers as they change. rotate offers, but get the traffic to your landing page first, then send them to the offer.

That's inspiring. I've mostly shied away from CPA.

Wouldn't potentially be more profitable to approach companies and sell them leads directly? I guess it would be more work but could pay off big time if done right.

  • Remember to build a business, not just make money.

Cpa can be a gold mine if it lasts, I've found that the offers change too often, payouts are annoying, lots of inconsistencies make it very challenging to pursue on a large level. At least for me so far!

      Build a list

PPC >> to >> squeeze page >> to >> CPA offers

Use CPA offers to monetize your list.

... and, even use your own products to sell to that list

do JV's and build the niche list even larger

add in membership sites on the backend.

It will ALWAYS COME DOWN TO 2 THINGS TO MAKE MONEY

That's cool, thanks for those nice words. I'll say this too... Luke is right too. There are other ways beyond Google Adwords for sending tons of traffic. But, free traffic to a squeeze page is not something Ive ever been good at.

I do know of some who have used social media, craigslist, etc to generate lots of free traffic, but me personally, i've never really gone down that road much.

I tend to pay for traffic first. Because it's fast and there are many ways to get tons of traffic for cheap. Like with using image ads on Adwords -- and site placement on specific pages within sites.

However, the key is to pick a niche (like dating) or debt, losing weight, legal, etc and get your own domain name, create a squeeze page and build a niche list. CPA offers can convert nicely. So, monetize your list by promoting offers to those subscribers. EZ money...!

Promoting CPA offers has been some of the easiest money I've ever made online, period.

In my experience, CPA offers have blown away (as far as conversions) 90% of affiliate sales letters I've ever promoted. And, they should too. It costs what?? $50 to get a product listed in ClickBank? It can cost $10,000 to get an offer in a CPA network. For 10 grand, that thing better convert.

You guys in this section of the WF are in the right place. CPA business can be very lucrative. But, it always takes 1) traffic and 2) conversions.

With all the people I've coached, people who dont make any money tend to be those who cannot drive traffic or are not willing to pay for it. Sure, some can drive a ton with free traffic, but I rarely see that. Most I know, did it with 1) paying for traffic or 2) joint ventures

Ask yourself right here and right now:

Can I drive tons of traffic to an offer??

If the answer is no, you're probably not making much money. I mean, even JV's and affiliates is a means of driving traffic (a damn good one too). That's still driving traffic. But, those who dont make squat online, do none of this.

You should spend 80 or 90% of your time focusing on traffic if you are not making any money, PERIOD. The rest of your time can be spent getting ready to master conversions.

Anyway, awesome thread. More in the main section should come on over here and see where the real money is being made.

          Eric
PS - The next step up is to get your own offers in CPA networks and get media buying traffic. Now, that's what I'm talking about!

      Luke,

Banners and content network can be very good for driving traffic with PPC (or CPM) when done right. (I use other methods too).

When you find a great converting offer you want to get as much traffic as you can.

I agree with Luke. It really is all about creative ways of driving traffic. So far, I have never used PPC to drive traffic to CPA offers, it's not that I am against it, because honestly, if it works and it is profitable, I am all for it.

If you don't have the money to spend on PPC, I would recommend starting niche marketing. Basically what you do is create a website based around a niche and certain keywords then promote that.

What I do is create my website. Costs me about $7 for the domain name and no other start up costs.

Then I create a web 2.0 circle. Make a squido or two about the keyword. Maybe even one about each. Then create a hubpages. then create a blogger blog. Then write some articles and submit to EZA, Article Dashboard, Goarticles etc.

The key is to interlink all the sites, but make it so no site receives a link from a site it is linking to. Have every site link to your main site. Have each article link to your main "money" site and then each article link to a different site in the "circle".

have the squido link to the blogger blog, have the blogger link to the hubpage and have the hubpag link to the squido.

This will create interlinking site structure so that you will rank high in the SERPs for your keyword. Plus the best thing is that web 2.0 creates it own traffic so you don't need to rely on the search engines...

if you are using craigslist make sure you are not driving them to the offer directely. You best bet is use craigslist to drive them to a landing page as most of the affiliate networks frown on it.

Clari Ng you can make money with alot of them. Depends on what type of demogprahics your list is if you are email marketing. Now if you are ppc just pick on generally you can find a few of the highest paying epc if they have the stats avaliable. Build a landing page drive traffic with bumb and also ppc to the landing page optin them in then send them to the offer.

This way even after you make you few pennies of the frontend sale you have them in your funnel for some future backend.... So even if you lose or break even you can sell them something else and you come out winning.

If all you are wanting to do it make money off the front end then you can but it will never be close to what your possibilities is of making with them in your funnel.

Eric already doing it with some of the cheaper entry level cpa's but as my lead generation programs get more seasoned i will spend more money on entry level programs with the majors like CJ and etc..... But you are dead on and everyone should know you make more money with cpa's than you will make with adsense or any other earner besides your business.

All the cpa's and affiliate networks are nothing more than additions to my businesses. I don't build businesses around offers but build offers around my business. So build your business and kill it with cpa's and affiliate programs in the backend.

Well, that would be great to get giants amounts of free traffic first. If it's a ton of free targeted traffic - generated quickly, man, you've got a huge winner in marketing indeed. The only way I've seen that is through JV's or press or viral or getting ranked #1, pretty much.

But, for most folks out there, they dont have your magic way of flooding tons of free traffic Luke. If they did, they'd all be rich. They dont know how to do what it is you know how to do.

And, if they are going to go after free traffic first, then they'd be out there with blogs, web 2.0 platforms, articles, etc etc etc which is a lot of work or lots of money being outsourced for others to do it for you.

It sure would suck to do all that work, or pay out all that money outsourcing that work, only to find out later, the offer does not convert.

So, I recommend paid traffic first. See if the thing converts, then, create all that free traffic if you want.

And, if you have your own domain and own squeeze page, and are building a list, then in my opinion, you are building a real business and not depending on some scheme that could end in 24 hours, only leaving you to go find the next sneaky scheme or loop hole.

Sure, if you send traffic straight to a CPA offer, it will convert higher than straight to a squeeze page. However, that list... that list will make you money for a long-long time. You can always do both at the same time, build a list and send straight to a squeeze page.

All in all, I'd love to know some of your free traffic methods as they sound like the bomb.

      Eric

Real quick, I just read over my post there and I dont want to sound like I'm going up against Luke at all. I think Luke has some killer ways of generating traffic and I've heard of him before using these methods. I remember someone telling me Luke is someone he believed was taring it up in the social marketing realms.

That's not my strength, social marketing/SEO, etc. Luke knows some great ways of generating traffic I heard. So, again, I'm just posting my ways and what's worked for me... and my reasoning for doing it this way.

        Best of luck to everyone.

Actually CPA is not that easy money.I launch many campaigns at a time and one or two show profit. Then I draw a huge traffic to that offer from all possible traffic source.Don't forget about Facebook and Myspace PPC , Socialmedia , cubics and mobile ads at admob [hint-click to call campaign.Dishtv network has one].

        Build a list

PPC >> to >> squeeze page >> to >> CPA offers

Use CPA offers to monetize your list.

... and, even use your own products to sell to that list

do JV's and build the niche list even larger

add in membership sites on the backend.
this sums up the entire concept in a few sentences where one could write a book to sell.

        Great share Eric!

Scott, thanks for sharing. I have been running Adsense and didn't even manage to buy shoestrings from what I still think is a really great site in terms of content (and by that I mean a really great site in terms of content) - one that is going to stay for years simply due to its sheer content value. The money earning is still almost 0 every day, including absolutely 0 on some days. That is fine, now that I realize the site is good, I am no longer interested in money from it, in my career goals it might go much beyond what money can buy with a bit of luck.

Having said all that, I don't mean I am not interested in earning enough to quit a day job. So, your story comes as a great inspiration. And I hope many of us also get to where you could go today!

      Good luck.

Lots of people are disparaging PPC on here.

I want people to be sure... there are lots of folks out there pulling in literally over $1,000/day profit because of PPC.

If you want a ton of traffic fast, and you DON'T have a list, it would seem that PPC is the way to go (especially if you can't afford media buys).

I'm spending easily $100-$150/day on Adwords, and that's nothing! But it's well worth the spend, I promise ;-)

I want to try this, but I am clueless about much of what has been discussed so far. CPA? I know what PPC means. Is it possible to get some kind of "dummies" information via ebook, or perhaps I could use a mentor. Just FYI, I am very sceptical of anyone claiming to be making $1000 a day. However, I am a restaurant manager and would like to quit my job. I would have to be able to replace an income of about $55,000 a year. Is this REALLY possible, or is this just something someone will tell me I can do in order to sell me something?

Believe the hype hunterron. It takes work, dedication, and 100% belief, but I WILL be making $1,000/day by September...

In terms of learning - everything you need to know is here or on similar forums starting with WF.

If you want to replace a $55,000 job, it IS possible, but it requires work. It's not just a get rich quick scheme. You're going to have to put up money, long hours, and also know that none of us can predict where this industry will be in 2 years. My plan is to get in hard, make as much money as I possibly can as quickly as I can, and then see what happens. I'm not anticipating that I'll be able to do this for the rest of my life - but it's working now, and it's definitely possible to make a full-time living... I made nearly $1,000 this week in profit - if I can keep that up, that amounts to your job as restaurant manager! But no guarantees - I could see that drop to zero tomorrow, or I could see it triple. Depends on the work, and testing, and testing, and more testing. I wish you the best of luck!

I am not afraid of work, or long hours. When you say "put up money", how much money am I going to need to invest to get started?

You don't just "put up" a block of money, but in initial spending for domains, hosting, sites, and ad testing I would say $500-1000.

Great thread! When doing PPC to market CPA how do you actually implement the Adwords conversion tracking code on the offer to determine if your paid traffic is actually converting and making you a profit?
