Best ad platform to reach SEO-inclined webmasters?

My target audience is people who own a website or blog, and are actively doing SEO as a means to grow their traffic and/or monetize their site.

Is there an ad platform in particular that you guys recommend, to reach these people?

My budget is flexible, and I don't think Facebook Ads is ideal for this.

Thanks a lot!

    • Yeah funny enough I ran a display campaign on this and even though I targeted "website traffic generation" and stuff like that, I got a thousand clicks from weird gaming sites Completely worthless those were...

Really got to up my targeting game. Can anyone give me a hand?

Curious. Why is Facebook Ads not ideal?

  • I'm sure it can work if you know what you're doing, but people tend to be in "entertainment" mode on facebook rather than on learning or problem-solving mode.

Having said that, testing is king. You never know what could work best for your target audience / product until you try.

I reckon Google Ads is better, as people tend to be more actively looking for something. I've done great with Search in the past but I'm looking to learn Display from someone.

Well that's true, but it can't hurt to AB test and start segmenting which audience you think is suitable.

Yes Google Ads is almost always better.

  • I'm assuming you're offering SEO services. If so, perhaps targeting webmasters who are actively doing SEO is the wrong approach. You really want people who aren't doing SEO or are unsure about how to go about it.

And your offer should focus on increasing their sales and profits - not on SEO.

That's a wide and diverse market - basically, all owners of underperforming sites - so you'd probably be better off narrowing your targets to a particular niche or sub-section to start with.

    • I'm actually offering a marketplace for webmasters to exchange a certain two types of SEO services.

And yes I'm advertising it as a way to grow your traffic.

I think you make a good point about aiming at "owners of underperforming sites within a certain niche". But any ideas on how to target a particular segment? For example, your typical site that reviews amazon products is a perfect client for me. Basically because I can make them money.
  • I would probably run facebook ads that target those that follow certain people - like those with large followings that teach SEO?

    • Thank you for the tip.
  • Try everything and analyze. A network might be good for somebody's business but not for you. Unless you test it, you will never know.
