I have clicked on my own ads a few times by accident. Nothing happened. Just didn't get credit for them. I think google has a certain tolerance threshold about these things. I wish they were more like that with Adwords

Accidents happen. If it happens too often it could mean trouble.

I think it happened to me twice in the last five years.

Just don't do it again. Also, I strongly advise you not to tell your friends and family about your site. They may click on your ads thinking that they may help you.

I'm not about to tell my friends to click on my ads but how could they ban you for that? We have no control over it. It means someone could go to a competitor's website and click like a maniac on the ads to get him/her banned?

comon. you know you can click few times your own ad. google knows they are accidental. also it has a registry that you can download and run. so that you can safeguard yourself from these accidental clicks. those clicks would not be counted if you use the registry

the tool is adsense preview tool and can be found at
Installing the preview tool - AdSense Help

    thank you

Google doesn't consider email or direct marketing. they just consider PR and SEO.

your not gonna get in trouble for clicking on your own ads a few times, you won't get paid for them though. Obviously though if they see you've been clicking your ads like crazy you're going to get banned.

I've clicked my own ads, not on accident, but because i was interested in the ad.

We have no control over it.
You do control your own site. If you tell family and friends about your site and that you make money when someone clicks the ads - they may try to do you a favor and it could hurt you.

One or two accidental clicks once in a great while will probably just be discounted by google. I don't understand how you can "accidentally" click very often! One fellow told me he "only clicked to see if the ads worked" - turns out he "only clicked" 20 or 30 times. Banned? yep.

Do not contact google to tell them you clicked one ad - no sense in calling attention to yourself for something like that. If you do it much - google will notice.

Clicked on my adsense ads accidentally also but got zero earnings reflected.. I guess, Google included in their Adsense algo a formula that detects what a valid click or an accidental click is..

but what if friends just click your ads for once, what's the problem then?

And what if they want to help you and click a lot, can they get ME banned with their actions?

I don't work with AdSense, so I can't give you a good answer for this question. However, it happened to a friend of mine. He is a teacher in an university and was "smart" enough to show his site to his students.

Less than a week later Google banned his AdSense account due to fraud. One (or more) of his students clicked a lot on his ads, probably knowing exactly what they were doing, since he had already explained how AdSense works (including how they treat fraudsters).

Adsense is fairly tolerant - surprisingly enough. Clicking your own ads on accident once or twice isn't going to get you banned.

As far as your friends clicking your ads - if the same IP address is clicking the ads every day Google is going to notice and they're going to ban you. To them - it looks like you are cheating the system and they rarely take matters on a case by case basis.

l use google adsense too, but i feel that you can report to google for the sake of being faithful, because if they get to find out by their tracking system, they will ban you and you end up losing your earnings before now.
    thanks

they have system to detect where clicks coming from. Your IP and computer ID.
Accidentally clicking your own ads is ok but not to the extent of everyday and every clicks are coming from you.
Then that's the dumbest scam/fraud in internet history

Same as how cpa networks detect fraud I suppose. They have a percentage and if you are higher than normal you trigger their red flags and they check you out.

I think if you click again, the account will be locked. You click on ads then google alway know but extent not serious to close your account.
