for a newbie in the cpa world is it better to start with ppv or cpc? and why?
#cpc #ppv

I'd start with PPC - there's more tutorials on it
and more forums where you can get advice and tips.

PPV it's easier to deal with but tougher to convert. However, you don't have to worry about your campaigns being slapped or account banned or any unpleasant "user experience".

From my experience, you need a good landing page though to make it work.

When it comes to CPA marketing/ affiliate marketing it is always best to talk to you CPA network and see what offers are doing well in PPV or PPC.

The experience that I have has been PPC has been easier to start off with and there are so much information on how to get started because Google, Yahoo and MSN has been around so much.

Also for PPV, I see that lead gen offers do well and you are working with PPV networks like MediaTraffic, TrafficVance, ZangoAds where it may be hard to get in because you need to be referred. However, you should still try and not be discouraged to get in.

A recommendation for getting more answers to this on affiliate marketing is checkout. (Affbuzz) This is an affiliate marketing aggregator of information where you will find a plethora of blogs in this site that can point you in the right direction.

isnt the google content network "ppv" or is it "cpm" if your not setting it up on ppc click bases???

it seems aff managers refer to ppv as other networks then google???

these terms are getting me confused...

PPV is a term introduced by Gauher Chaudry to describe Cost per View Traffic (CPV) or also known as adware traffic.

Basically it's buying pop up or pop under window traffic by cpv companies.
Cpv companies get their traffic by installing a software (adware ) on user's pc (screensavers etc ) that display pop ups/unders when they visit certain site .
You pay for every view of your popup.

Google content network traffic is ppc traffic. You pay for ever click , not per view.

Both PPC and PPV have their pros and cons.
With PPV you don't have to worry about quality score , direct linking or writing ads.
While the traffic volume is much lower than ppc , traffic is pretty targeted.
Also , with ppv , you don't have to spend hundreds to test a campaign.

However the choice what to use is up to you. If you put some hard work you can succeed with both of them

couldnt the cpm of the content network be considered ppv??? since u dont pay per click?

it seems aff managers dont consider it this though, if your not paying by the click on google what is this called cpm???

PPC is where you can get the testing done to be sure you have a solid campaign but just remember to give google what it wants (in terms of quality) or you will pay dearly.

No the google content cpm traffic can't be considered ppv.
It's ppv only when it's generated by adware (programs installed on a user's pc ).
In Neverblue they note it as DSL (Downloadable Software )

Either are probably bad if you are very new. Try sticking with free or cheap methods to learn the basics before jumping in with the big guns. Just a thught to consider

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

Well you're probably gonna burn through atleast $500 before you start seeing conversions + breaking even/making money no matter which one you chose. Fundamentals are the same, landing page is needed + good tracking.

The good thing with the CPV tutorials out there at the moment is they're pretty concise, not too much bull****. Compared to all the guru wannabee's that do PPC training. I mean look @ ppc coach and what happened there! link for reference

    Give CPV a crack mate

beksworld, don't overlook bing and yahoo, they're still very viable sources of traffic for your CPA offers. In addition to that, PPV generally requires a larger budget as many of the big PPV networks require an advance deposit before you can even advertise with them (I believe mediatraffic requires a $200 deposit and traffic vance requires a $1000 deposit), whereas PPC is basically 'pay as you go' if you choose not to use the prepaid option.

I just launched a campaign with massive traffic hits for ppv, 25000 pop unders full page. I am running a Never Blue **** offer and as of today I have had my offer shown about 4000 times and have yet to convert. Is this a poor traffic source or has that offer been cookies to peoples computers already, leaving me advertising for someone else to be paid. Hard to say, I am going to try some of there freshest offers to help ensure my cookie placement. Anyone with experience please chime in if this makes sense.

It is my understanding that your cookie would over-write an existing one. So you would get credit if there were a sale. The last cookie wins!

There is a lot more to buying traffic than just buying it. There is a learning curve that can be expensive if you do it wrong. See Kenster's message above...

You guys should really tap into Facebook/Myspace/Hi5 PPC, as well as Bing, Yahoo!, and so forth.

Google is by far the largest source of PPC traffic for me, but if I get a campaign performing with them its usually a cinch to duplicate it across the other popular PPC platforms. All of the others put together, usually add up to about the same traffic as I get from google.

As far as CPV goes, theres a good tutorial attached to my signature (No opt-in or anything Necessary , its just a thread here on warrior)
