If I have a 25% conversion rate using free traffic methods

Would it be safe to say that I could expect that or more if I start buying targeted traffic?

The free methods I use are also pretty targeted but I want to expand and cut some of the bull work. My current landing page is converting every one out of 4 visits but my pay out is only $1.25 per conversion.

In your honest opinion, considering these stats, could I stand to make a decent profit using paid methods such as ppv or ppc?

I think that PPV is likely to work with your landing page. However, PPC is too expensive for most offers with a low payout.

Wealthyclark, while traffic from PPV is very cheap it's nowhere near as targeted as PPC, or apparently your free traffic methods. I highly doubt that you'll get anywhere near 25% conversion with PPV, and I wouldn't use PPV with a low paying offer of $1.25, as your returns may not be very high, given the typically low conversion rates with PPV.

Paulie, in your opinion there is no alternative route for my campaign when taking the stats given into consideration?

Wealthyclark, my advice is to test things out. I wasn't aware at first that you were using a content blocker script (rather than a straight CPA offer to fill out on a landing page), if you target the right movies/shows, you may be able to convert at a high rate, and be able to profit from PPV traffic. My advice is to test with both PPV and PPC, it may convert very well given the fact that content blocker sites have historically converted much higher than traditional CPA offers.

Thank you Paulie, I've payed close attention to the traffic I've been getting to my site over the past week or so and comparing it to my conversions it's looking very good at 1 out of 4. I just can't build a steady stream of traffic using the free methods that I'm currently utilizing without working myself into an early grave.

I've used PPV on past projects with no avail but they were no where near as promising as my current. I'm leaning more toward PPC, if I can keep my conversions close to their current state paying 10cents per click, I could easily double my investment maybe even triple.

My question, where can I buy image ads for 10cents per click or under other than google yahoo or msn? I think with the the perfect banner my site could convert very well due to the fact that most clicks will come from people interested in exactly what I have to offer.

Instead of just going the CPC (cost per click) route, why don't you try something along the lines of small media buys? It's going to require some testing and you may not hit a home run the first time around, but you could start contacting smaller blog/site owners to see if you could run banners there. You could use quantcast to pinpoint the demographics of your visitors and then try to target the sites and blogs that they visit. You could hit a real gold mine especially with site owners that are willing to offer you banner advertising for a low monthly rate.

That's a great alternative Paulie but it's not my style, I'm not into chasing people down for ad space. I look at it this way, if they wanted to sell quality ad space they would have already sold it!

PPV is doable, so is PPC but its a lot harder and you will be working on an extremely small margin, so you will need crazy volume.

I just posted this recently somewhere else, but if you have a great landing page, one option is to do PPC and expect to break even up front on the offer. If there is an easy way to convert your landing page into a squeeze page then you can make all your money on the back end.

So...you spend $1000 on PPC and get $1000 in commissions...you break even. But due to your squeeze page you are able to get opt ins and start building a list of subscribers. You can then sell these leads with email advertising on the back end and thats your profit center. Just an idea to consider if you are seeing great conversions with your landing page and offer combination. The great thing about PPC is you can build a list this way extremely fast.

I remember doing an email submit offer with this exact strategy when I was starting out and I still sell to this group today!

Thanks Kenster, that sounds very doable. The problem I predict is that this may not be a buying crowd. The offer I'm currently presenting them with is watching free movies online. I'm sure there's something I can interest them with on the back end but I'm stumped on the what as of right now.

If you are breaking even on the front end, even if you cant think of a great offer now, you are still building a list. By the time a good offer that makes sense for the traffic comes around you will have a large list and you create an email and press send and you just made money!

You give very solid advice that makes a world of sense. I never really got into the whole building list phenomenal, I see the ongoing potential in list building but for some reason something in my head always told me to do other wise. I guess that's why I'm not a big dog as of yet.

My question to you, what's the ballpark average of people that actually provide an email address that they check regularly?

PPV can run your money out fast in some cases. With such a low payout I would not use it.

Wealthyclark, if that's the case then I think you had better go the PPC route. Somehow I don't think people are going to stop doing whatever it is they're doing online to attend to a PPV website that pops up about a free movie or show to watch. I think that is pretty much your only option then for paid advertising, since you have ruled out buying ad space from individual website owners.

Wealthyclark, no problem. I'm glad I could be of help. Don't limit yourself to just google, don't forget msn and bing, and also perhaps the 2nd tier search engines (test first, of course).

I don't really want to use search engines at all, I have a few standard size banners, 300x250 and so on. I'm looking for a advertising network that would place my banners on relevant sites and charge per click.

Hmm, that's interesting. As far as I know, most advertising networks that place banners charge on a CPM (Cost Per 1000 Impressions) basis, so I'm not sure how easy it'd be to find someone charging on a CPC (Cost per Click) basis.

They are out there, I can think of two off of the top of my head but if this is a rare thing, it's probably in my best interest to not reveal them.
