Complete Newbie Question About Use Of Creatives

Hi. I just started out with CPA, got approved with a few networks and now I am on my way to promoting a couple offers on my blog. I noticed that all the offers I wish to promote use flashy banner and sales pitch text link creatives. All I really wanted to do is talk about the product in my blog posts and link to the company in question, but not all the offers I wish to promote have contextual links. (I am assuming contextual means for use in the text??)
In your experience, can you use only part of the creative to link text? For example, a text link provided might say 'Click here to sign up'......can I change the words 'Click here' to the company name and take out the 'to sign up' part? I know I should ask my AF, and I do have the question in to him, but he is taking rather long to get back to me.
Thanks!
April

The text in their text links are just given for example purposes. On most offers you are free to change the text to what you believe will lead them to the offer page most effectively and of course, honestly.

Ok. Thanks. I appreciate your answer. I belong to Maxbounty, Panthera, and Market Leverage at the moment. That's what I thought, but when I asked my affiliate manager if I could link the contextual creative to a picture, she said no.....(I wanted to take screen shots of the homepages of the companies I am promoting and link the screenshots to their sign in pages) But apparently I can't do that.

I'm very new to CPA myself, but I think you are misunderstanding contextual.

You should find under the banner advertising in MaxBounty an option for doing a text link. That is what you are needing.

My understanding of contextual advertising would be advertising which is targeted to a website's content. Similar to the Adsense ads which are displayed on websites around the internet, and targeted to match the content of the page.

Hopefully one of the more experienced CPA guys will chime in and either confirm, or refute my definition.

Yea i think you may be right about me misunderstanding what contextual means. The thing is, I just want to keep my blog simple, no flashy banners and no obvious sales pitches, so I don't know what type of creative to use to just link text.
      Thanks for your input!

    Hi April,

Good idea, especially for a blog where you are trying to create a loyal following, you want to seem as least salesy as possible. Also, make sure you are promoting good solid offers as you dont want to p. off your followers, as they wont be happy if you sent them to an impossible to cancel trial offer that ends up costing them an arm and a leg and a tank of aggravation to cancel. Same with some of the endless pits that email submits sometimes lead to.

As for the actual process, its completely up to your AM and that will depend on the specific advertiser of the offer as well. If your AM says you can't link your own picture with an affiliate link, then you can't. Some AMs and advertisers (particularly the ones who allow banner and image creatives) will be okay with something like that being that it doesn't seem you are being deceptive in any way shape or form. Other AMs and advertisers are extremely picky.

So just be transparent with you AM. And yes, assuming you aren't changing the text to anything misleading or deceptive, changing the text to another simple call to action should be just fine. If you are new with a network, it wont hurt to double check of course.

    Good luck blogging

Hey there. Thanks for the advice. It's funny you mention some AM are super picky, because I asked the same questions to 2 different AMs and got 2 completely opposite answers. LOL Anyway, I think I have found a way to accomplish what I am trying to do, and it is ok with at least one of the AM's so I will just stick with that network for now.
Thanks all for your replies. They are really a big help. And I will check out the network mentioned above, thanks for informing me about it.
