How much do you guys spend on testing an offer?

Ive been doing $30-50 on yahoo search marketing and adwords to test offers that I feel can do well, and then see how they do. Do you guys spend more or less on your testing? Just curious cause I feel like $30-$50 might be too little. Thanks.

Ok well I guess to be more specific on testing all of your keywords. My network tells me the highest converters as well, but with competitive niches, even in yahoo search marketing, the keywords can be anywhere from $1-$5+, any ideas?

It would be almost impossible to say by a dollar amount. You need to consider your testing based up on other factors, not $$$.

You need to know your click through rates, then your conversion rates after they click, what keywords are producing, etc.

To say $30 to $50, or $300 to $500 would be unimportant. Think about your own figures, if you are bidding on $5 keywords, then $50 gets you 10 clicks. Not enough clicks to really tell you much of anything. Especially if you have 100's of keywords in your campaign. How would you know which keywords are going to convert or work after only 10 clicks?

I could be all wet...since I have only played with PPC and do almost of my work through building content, but even testing keywords for content I'd consider 10 clicks completely useless. 10 people could be non-buyers, and in the next 90 clicks you could have 5 to 10 conversions.

When I find keywords which work, I expand my content network around those keywords, and ideas.

generally I'll never risk more than $100, but your testing campaign really needs to be dictated by bounty (CPA) of the offer and the associated conversion rate.

It all depends on the amount of the offer, if your testing a <$5 offer than you might be spending enough, if it's more you might not be. It also depends on your keywords, ads, etc.

It is completely dependent on your personal budget. Sometimes you know an offer is good (your aff manager sees that are people are doing well with it) so you may be bleeding red for a long time trying to figure out what the competitors are doing and optimizing your campaign. With this inside knowledge, you are also more willing to extend your typical testing budget.

    Just something to think about

Yea I realize now how impossible it is to answer my above question because of different variables like keyword cost etc

Try CPV/PPV If you have that kind of money to test on CPV/PPV, you can get a pretty good return in SOME cases, not all...

But make sure you know what you are doing beforehand, because CPV/PPV is another different kind of beast

It will always depend on the platform I am advertising and obviously my target audience.

Unless your audience is really low, $30-$40 is little bit too low in my opinion. Since you will find conversions will differ on weekdays/weekends etc
