Need Input from PPV/CPA Marketers

I'm preparing for a PPV campaign with some CPA offers. Discussed with my affiliate manager who advised games, but games have very low pay out, usually around $1.50 at best. Basically, based on the targeting and advertising cost per impression, I calculate that I'll need something like 15 conversions per 1000 views (not clicks, views of the ad) before I can earn a profit.

Assuming I have decent landing pages (I do) in rotation among 1000 URLs or so, does that seem realistic? It seems awful high to me, I thought typical conversion rates on PPV were around 1%, but I'll need about 1.5% for this to work.

    I generally find that any offer that pays under $2.50 is not worth my time especially email/zip submits as the scrub rate will cancel out any profit that you made of made on these offers.

    To make money with a payout that low you really have to laser target your URLs, which takes testing and research beforehand.

    Small initial payouts, but opportunity on the backend.

    What is your CPM? I don't understand...you're saying that, in order to turn a profit, you'll need to make approximately $22+ per 1000 views?

      Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The CPM is $15 for highly targeted traffic with mediatraffic. So if you do the math, it basically means you break even if you get $15 worth of conversions with every 1000 impressions. Since most games payouts are at best about $1.50 it means you need 10 conversions per every 1000 impressions. It's basically 1%, so for a profit you need more than that, could be less than 1.5%, but must be greater than 1%. I don't know whether that's realistic or not.

      My affiliate manager swears up and down that it is, but I have some doubt.

    I guess I should have paid more attention to what you were talking about. For some reason, I was thinking that you were doing media buys. Your CPM makes a lot more sense now. Sorry.

    Are you using domain or keyword targeting?

    Stop thinking, start doing, theories never seem to pan out as expected. But using 1000 URL to start is not a good strategy. Have you stopped to think about what strategies? Worry about this more than what your theoretical conversion rate must be!

    I found success with offers over $5.
