Hey warriors, im curious if you or anyone you know have tried advertising cpa offers through news papers. Ofcourse people have and do, but Im curious as to what the pros and cons are. Obviously 1 pro would be alot of eyes browsing your ad.

Thanks

I'd cant see that being profitable, but then again you never know unless you try.

Use offers that target seniors and non technical people, they're the only ones that read newspapers these days right?

It depends on the type of Local newspaper you are going to be advertising on.

I think what you should focus on is have a bunch of flyers created on Weight Loss or something like a trial offer (i.e. building muscle) and simply hire someone to distribute them.

I had a leaflet the other day posted through my letter box and it was an ad on "how to lose weight" and it was a CPA Affiliate link

Ive done flyers and newspaper ads.

Flyers work, I was making great money when I started literally going out and flyering myself. Had some really big pay weekends and reinvested that money into internet ads, thats what funded this for me. So yes it works, but its a lot of manual work.

Ive tried outsourcing like Imran said, and made money but not nearly as much as when I distributed myself. Other people have less incentive to work hard when they aren't earning on commission basis. I actually tried a commission platform but still didnt work as well as doing them myself. I think I walk faster and work harder than the average folk though. But the point is, it does work.

as for newspaper, the point of this thread. Yes, they also work. One of the keys here is negotiating a good price with the papers. I did this a lot when I first started as well. I had my best success when I would speak with a single person at the newspaper for a while and BS with them, talk about the weather, whatever. The whole point being that they would normally give me good ad prices after chatting with them for a bit!!!

You can buy an ad space and produce an image graphic with your domain listed somewhere. You can even get an 800 number and talk to the people who see your ad. 800s are very cheap, check online. Normally image ads, I like putting just enough info to spark interest, I like to have a big headline, and not a lot of detail, people dont seem to be interested in reading small detail on ads, in my opinion.

Or you can do a text ad. This is straight forward and there will normally be a strict requirement for characters of text etc.

The great thing is that you can be creative here. Can put an ad in the job section for a bizz opp offer or in sports section for a sports offer.

    Yes, that DOES work.

Here's a trick: Spy on your competitors and check how many months they have been advertizing in the same magazine. If they have been, you know they have a successful campaign going.

    Copy and do the same!

Any questions just let me know

Just a guess, for your newspaper ad you could take your best converting text ad (adwords) and run it using a redirected domain name.

Great stuff guys. Mainstreetcm please tell me how it goes as I am interested in doing something like this.

Good info Kenster, does any of this manual foot slogging go against any TOS by the CPA networks?

Is it against TOS for going to say a college billboard and posting a incentive offer..?

EDIT** Maxbounty has an amazing offer right now that pays $1.50 for JUST the email. All it is, is a email submit.

Normally incentivized offers have more liberal restrictions, but the payouts will be lower.

It all depends on the offer. When I first started I did a lot of offline promotion and none of my affiliate managers said anything. They could have and could have denied commissions if the offer didnt allow offline traffic, but assuming the offers convert on the advertisers end, they are much more flexible with traffic.

So to play it safe I would ask, but in the beginning when I didnt ask I didnt have any problems.

And college campuses were my stomping ground!! haha

Yes this does work. One of the most important elements though, or at least I have heard, is the 1800 phone number. Set up a recorded message or if you dont sleep then just answer all the calls yourself.

EXTREMELY CHEAP to do this. People think it is hard and expensive. Its not!
