What is an affiliate network? Is it a gathering of people that are assume the publisher/advertiser positions? Or is it a group of like minded websites? Or both? Or something else?

    Hey Marketmaker,

An affiliate network acts as an intermediary between advertiser and publisher (kind of what you said). It's a place where affiliate marketers can go to find offers that they can promote. An example of an affiliate network would be Clickbank.

What most people in this forum are talking about though, is a sub-category within affiliate marketing called CPA marketing. CPA stands for cost per action, it's similar to affiliate marketing because you are promoting someone else's product, but different in that you are (in most cases) trying to get someone to complete an action (give their email address, zip code, or fill out a short form) rather than a sale. Hope that helps though!

    Best of Luck,
