Tracking in PPV - Google Analytics?

I'm new to PPV and am trying to test out some landing pages to see what kind of traffic I get and whether it might convert.

As a simple test I signed up with Media Traffic and began sending traffic to a couple of landing pages. According to MT, they've sent nearly 750 visitors, but my google analytics shows none of them (it shows a few visits - from me - so it is tracking something).

Is there something that I should be doing different with PPV in terms of tracking? For example, do MT pop overs not allow javascript?

Thanks!

    Hey TheKaiser,

If I were you, I wouldn't use Google Analytics to track your campaigns. For some reason, it doesn't track visitors when you use CPV. I tried the same thing at first and got no where with it. You are going to need a tracking URL and a tracking pixel. You can get both of these using Tracking202 (or Prosper202 if you're good with technical stuff like running your own VPS server).

Just go to Tracking202.com and create an account. You're then going to have to enter in all of your campaign information and all that good stuff. Once you have that entered in, they will generate a custom tracking URL for you to use. You then need to get the Global Tracking Pixel from Tracking202 as well. Once you get that, give it to your AM and have him/her place it. Then all you need to do is "paste" the custom tracking URL into the advertising platform you're using and click "Allow Keyword Pass-Through".

That should tracking everything for you. You can see all of the traffic you received, what keywords converted, and what time you got the conversions. With MT, once you have the campaign set up, you are going to have to go in to "Edit Existing Campaigns". Go down to "Current Destinations", click "Modify", then you'll see "Target Pass-through". Check that box and you are good to go! Hope that helps!

    Best of Luck,

    Hey TheKaiser,

google analytics doesn't do the job for ppv since it relies on a heavy javscript to load and track conversions .

Most people that are seeing your popup , close it immediately , so it doesn't give time to the javascript to load and track the conversion.

Your best bet with ppv would be p202 and a good server (if you are sending volume don't bother with shared hosting)

    Why not just use Prosper202/Tracking202?
