Does CPA offers really pay Per Action/Leads?

Hi guys. I am new to CPAs, but I am studying up on it now. Here is my question:

You know there are CPA offers that require just a name and email/zipcode etc. - do you actually get paid when the prospect submit their information? I have noticed the fine print at the bottom of some of the squeeze pages that says, "In order to obtain your gift card, you must complete x amount of offers".

If the prospect submits his/her info on the landing page and then after being transferred to the offers - they decide not to complete them - do we still get paid? I know it is Cost Per Action - but you can also ask what KIND of "Action" or HOW MUCH action.

I saw one CPA for a free $500 walmart card and it had:
Step 1 - enter email (only textbox on landing page but had the steps on the same page.)
Step 2 - complete sponsor offers
Step 3 - confirm mailing address and claim gift.

I also saw another one - it had ONE text box to enter your email (thats it) - but in the fine print - it had "requirements" - and the prospect had to do 13 offers!

May seem like a dumb question - but like I said - I've been in Internet marketing for a while, but I am now exploring CPAs. I am starting with Gauher Chaudhry's ebooks.

The idea for the advertiser is that if you get enough traffic to the offer, that it will back out for them with people who complete the co-reg path, start or complete the requirements trying to obtain the gift, and also could simply be creating a niche-based email list at times that they can market to.

So yes typically if your overall quality on the offer comes out good for the advertiser you typically wouldn't have any issues getting paid for all your leads, despite how far into the path the users go after the first page/email submit.

You will have to test the submit offers to find something thats works well!

Going PPC > LP > Offer - I often change the offer on the backend to check conversion rate for different offers.

For Example - I recently was doing iPad stuff.
Had the original offer on which converted at 5% and lost me money.
Offer #2 converted at 57% and made nice money.
Offer #3 converted at 22% and made nice money.

2 and 3 were good because the conversion rates/payout brought my revenue well past the overhead and I was turning profit.

When it comes to it, It is a numbers game! Some offers have high payouts but dont convert well ( because it is ugly/ advertisers shave) while other payout well under 1$ but then convert extremely high.

Testing, Testing, Testing... (and avoiding offers that convert on second or third page)
That's all there is to it

      Best of Luck to ya

My question is what types of requirements must the prospect complete? I know this is an older thread, but I need to know. I am considering marketing to a list via email and I don't want to ruin my reputation by having some ridiculous requirements to get a free gift card. Are they reasonable requirements to meet and not spammy?

The requirements are usually ridiculous, if not everyone would be walking around with free iphones and $1000 gift cards. If you dont want to ruin your reputation maybe send the offers from an address not associated with your home website, probably not compliant with spam laws but people do it. I would recommend sending a higher paying offer related to something they are interested in.

Thanks for you reply. Makes sense and I will avoid the low end gift card type of offers. BTW, I see your auto sig has Peerfly. They are my favorite interface by far. Hope they keep growing.

I wouldn't avoid email/zip submits - there can be a TON of money in them. They're great offers for beginners and you can always use them to launch up some new campaigns.

They aren't typically the best campaigns long term unless you can consistently drive quality traffic to them - but there is definitely money to be made.

Don't avoid any offers based on the payout - give them a test.

You need to find out what action is required per offer, some offers it might be an e-mail address, others might be full info, others credit card, etc..

what you said above sounds like a typical email submit, you get paid when they enter there email address, however they cannot "win" or get there prize until they complete all of the offers required

check with your am to confirm!

Email submits are email submits. It means that you get paid after the user submits their email.

However, this type of offer may have a high scrub rate if you drive low quality traffic. If the advertiser doesn't make money with your leads in the back-end he may scrub in order to get a compensation.

So always drive good traffic and, when it's possible, tell people to do more than just supplying their email address, tell them to also fill out the form on the second page. It will make more money to advertiser and therefore the scrub rate will be low.
