How important is Article Marketing to CPA

Its a tough call. There is certainly a lot of potential with article marketing, but not every method is right for every marketer. You say your English isnt that great, so perhaps article marketing isn't the best place for you to be.

Another option, like you said, is to outsource. Put the extra effort into your articles in the beginning and find a system that works for you. If you can come up with a system of designing, submitting, copywriting article, then you can outsource that system. If done effectively, there is great potential. The trick is to come up with a system first on your own...assuming your wnglish is good enough to do that.

There are plenty of other free traffic methods as well. You mention video, which is something I did for a while with great results when I was starting.

The key to making money through article marketing is to target really specific people with your articles. The way you make article marketing profitable is by having about 200 hundred articles online that each bring you 1 SUPER TARGETED customer every other day or so. It doesn't seem like a lot of traffic from each article but if you make a sale out of 1 out of every four customers, then that's 50 sales every couple of days.

It's all about looking at the bigger picture.

I think you should try it out to see if it works for you. Like you said its all FREE traffic. If your ROI (which your investment would be your time in the case) isn't where it should be then just don't do it anymore. Like CJ. Online implying and Kenster preaches, its alllll a numbers games especially when it comes to free traffic. Also, I think the key is you need to have patients with this type of marketing.

I submitted my first few articles the other day and I'm just waiting to see if they get accepted or not. If they do I'm going to pound out a ton of them every second I get and if they don't I'll just have to re-tweak and resubmitted them.

I have never done a whole lot myself to be perfectly honest. Different strokes for different folks!

I have plenty of other bigger fish I need to fry, but with that said, there still is opportunity in the article marketing space. Its just not what I have ever or will ever focus on. Dont let that discourage you though, plenty of people are making big bucks with it!

I have promoted Clickbank products with article marketing in the past, and I still have some campaigns running. I'm not a native english speaker just like you, and I have learned an important lesson from my campaigns: don't write the articles by yourself if your english is not PERFECT. This rule also applies to sales letters, reviews, etc...

I just could make my first bucks with article marketing when I decided to outsource my articles. As you can see, my english is good enough to tell you everything that I want. I'm sure that you (and everybody) can understand everything that I'm writing here. However, my english is not good enough to write articles to promote Clickbank products or CPA offers.

So, don't lose your time trying to create your own articles. Simply make a choice: outsource it or forget it. Article marketing is not the only way to make money with free traffic, so don't do it if you can't. Since you're not a native english speaker, it won't be easy to find a method that you won't need to outsource a single line of content (I work with PPC and my writer rewrites all my landing pages, without exceptions), but there are many alternatives that will be much cheaper for you than article marketing.

Like I said, I have never personally done it, but I know some people do well with it.

Ryan has access to hundreds or thousands of affiliates through his network, so he knows a lot more about the success rate of article marketers.

The good thing...its residual and autopilot. The bad thing, its a lot of work unless you can find an economical way to outsource.

I think it also depends on the definition of successful. If $50 a day is successful to you, then sure you can do pretty much any main traffic method and be successful. If you are looking for $1,000/day or more, then there are other traffic methods that are much easier to scale. If you do forum marketing for example, you will likely not even come close to 1k a day.

So it really depends on the definition of "successful"

@Ken This is where I am right now - DEFINING what I want to accomplish. Last night, I re-read Rags 2 Riches (3rd time of 4!). I think what you're saying ties in to one of the first things in the course - GOAL SETTING! If you set a goal to, say, make $200/month in 6 months, you should be able to PLAN your marketing attack accordingly. If you set a goal of $1500/day after THREE months, obviously you would have a different plan.

Now I see why you said "read at least 4 times". The first 2 times I TOTALLY skipped over that part!

I think that article marketing is a little bit stressful, most especially in situations whereby the topic that is written upon is very competitive. Besides, one would have to write many articles before he can begin to enjoy the dividends of his work.

Haha, not just my guide....all guides should be read multiple times. Sometimes its hard to understand how the beginning parts of ebooks relate to the end of the book, so re-reading helps one get the most out of the whole book.

But yes, planning and setting up a strategy is of utmost importance. Too many people just go without knowing where they want to go and how they are going to get there.

Successful for me is building campaigns and growing them as much as they can grow. Even if its not a huge sum of money, if I can grow an idea in my head into a profitable campaign, thats a success, regardless of the money.

This is just like most entrepreneurs though. Money is obviously a huge influencer, but most entrepreneurs will tell you that taking a vision and turning that vision into a tangible and successful business is true success. Whether its a $50k business or $50,000,000 business, its the mere fact of turning an intangible vision into a tangible business that defines success

I wouldn't outsource until you have a general feel for what works and what doesnt. Its good to outsource (and the other aspects of scaling) when you have a system that works. Trial and error by outsourcing can be costly.

As for methods, the truth is that there are people out there that are making almost every method work. Depending on how long you try something coupled with your personality traits will determine which method is best for you. Some methods are best for some people and other for other people.

I would suggest taking some time to examine who you are, what you're good at, what your goals are, and then look at the different traffic methods and see which ones match and are a good fit for those answers.

Article marketing might be the best option to get established with CPA marketing, particularly if you do not yet have the financial capability to advertise. Many new affiliates focus on this one marketing method because it doesn’t cost anything to work with, there isn’t any investment needed.

IMO, it is no important than any of type of traffic. I know people making more with article marketer than people with other methods and I know people iwth other methods making more than some with article marketing. It's all about picking what works for you and running with it.

well, it's not a tough game at all; all you need is proper strategies to win over your competitors. You might have Language as your weak point, but you have a number of opportunities that can break the barrier of language. I must appreciate the way you have already applied, i.e. video marketing; I think Youtube and Metacafe video marketing would be exponential beneficial way to fulfill your purpose. You can also go for paid advertising tools, which can ensure you good result in terms of business.

But you wont get rich doing $1-2 dollar zip submits ... those are pointless. What you want to do is INCREASE the stakes! I'm talking $50 - 150 USD CPA offers like I'm doing. Now THAT will get you that sports car you always wanted, not silly little surveys n stuff.

This is very true Nick. However, if you want to solidify long-term success in this industry (with a smaller budget), I HIGHLY recommend implementing article marketing into your SEO strategy.

I currently have about 10 content blogs created around several different CPA offers. I know the blogs convert because I test them with PPC, similar to what Nick suggested. But with such high bid prices, I find it extremely difficult to make the kind of profit that I want with this technique.

So I found an article distribution service that I pay $60/month. Basically, what this service does is allows me to have 300 articles per month, mass-distributed to all of the major article directories and their network of publishers that are affiliated with this company. I'm getting MASS amounts of backlinks to my blogs and I'm seeing results SO much faster than when I was manually submitting my articles.

You can't really understate just how important it is to get your article/content out to as many sources as humanly possible. For every publisher that takes my articles and uses it on their site, I am getting a backlink. For every network that my article is being distributed to, I'm getting a backlink. I am able to very quickly build several hundred backlinks, every single month, with very little effort.

And the best part? I am able to pay off that $60/month, with just a few quick conversions. And when you have 10+ blogs bringing you in X amount of conversions, every day, it's easy to cover those expenses.

So moral of the story, make sure that you are taking the necessary steps to solidify LONG-TERM success for your business. Because paid advertising is only getting more competitive, so you need to have the right balance of paid traffic and organic traffic coming in, to make sure that your business is thriving for a long time to come!   I'll break down my strategy for building a content blog around a CPA offer...
  
  1) I talk to my AM and get a list of some of the top converting offers on my network.
  
  2) I take those offers and test them with some form of paid advertising (usually Lead Impact CPV).
  
  3) I find an offer that is showing some potential (usually if I'm getting 1-2 conversions per day, I know it has some potential).
  
  4) I create a blog with a domain name that fits the offer (if you're in the auto insurance niche try something like this, easyautoinsurancetips.com, don't know if that one is taken, but you get the point).
  
  5) Start adding 100% original content to the blog every day/week (I outsource this so it really depends on your budget).
  
  6) Come up with a report/process that will guide your visitors to your offer. Your also going to add an email capture on your blog and this is how you are going to get people to opt-in to your list. For example (sticking with the auto insurance example), create a report on "5 Ways to Save Money on Your Auto Insurance". I usually outsource something like this for $20-30. People will want your report, so this will be a way to get them on your list and get them as more than just a one-time customer.
  
  7) Make sure that within the report, you have a link to your offer. Another example, make step 1 of the report/process, "Go to myofferspage.com and get your free Auto Insurance Quote". Make sure that you are fully informing the person if they are signing up for a free-trial or rebill of some kind. The last thing you want is for people to think you are scamming them, so make sure that you put in parentheses under your link something like this, "Here is a free 15 day trial to MyOfferPage.com. Make sure that you cancel your membership before the 15 days is up if you do not wish to continue using their services."
  
  8) Do your basic SEO (articles, videos, press releases, social, link building, etc.).
  
  9) Continue adding content as often as possible. Just make sure that you are doing your on-site SEO as well. Link your pages together, create a "Glossary of Terms", stuff like that. All of this will significantly help your rankings.
  
  10) Answer any questions or comments that are left by visitors on your blog. Stay involved and always be helping people as much as humanly possible!
  
  Like I said before, I have about 10 of these content blogs up right now and they are doing REALLY well. It's amazing how something this simple (90% outsourced work!) can really create a foundation for your business. Think about it...
  
  If you get 10 of these things going, making you $100+ per day each, you can have a 6-figure business going within a couple of years. You just need to be willing to put in the work. It's not overly difficult work, but it is work that needs to be done!
  
  So I hope that answers your question! I encourage people to use this strategy because it is something that has worked for me and to be honest, this industry isn't getting any less competitive. So solidify your long-term success now, while this great window of opportunity is in front of you!

There are lots of ways to make money with CPA offers. If you don't want to do article marketing you don't have to.

However, other methods of promoting CPA offers might require you to write articles for your own site to get a good quality score with Google, but you could probably get around that to if you wanted to. Google just likes to see related content on your page. They aren't as concerned with how well you write.

Thats the funny thing about a specific traffic source like Article Marketing.

If you mention any traffic soruce, people inevitably say that it is not worth it and "dead". You hear things like...

PPC to CPA is dead
Craigslist is no more
Article Marketing doesnt work
You can't make more than $50/day with video marketing
PPV doesnt work anymore
Blogging and CPA doesnt work

...and so on

My bet is that there are many people making 6 figures in all of the above methods to this very day. My bet is that with most traffic sources, there are people doing 4 figure days.

Everybody has their own way to do things. Some people like to do very high paying offers and use a particular paid traffic source like PPC, yet somebody else can be making the same amount doing purely seo and article marketing.

The trick is getting good at one of these sources...any of them. My bet is there are bum marketers out there making more than I am. My bet is that there are email submit marketers out there making more than me. So dont let what people say discourage you from trying this or trying that. Everything works...you just need to make it work!!!

Article marketing can work - just like any other traffic source. You really just need to focus in on something and do it.

It's a lot of work - but if you don't have any money for paid traffic then it's definitely worth a shot.

Build a bankroll so you can start learning and testing on all of the paid traffic sources out there.

It's always a good idea to start with free traffic like article marketing. It helps you learn while still maintaining your motivation because anything you do make is profit.

There is nothing worse than trying to learn and having Google eat you up and spit you out. Too easy to get discouraged and quit if you are taking a beating right from the start with paid traffic

The good point I found about article marketing (I read somewhere) is you always start slow, go through a harder process. But in the end, people always want to read to get persuade and fill up a short form. Or even pull out their credit card and start making you a commission.

But when it's up and running, you get long term commissions. Sometimes you gone for a holiday and do nothing. Come back and still see money funneling into your bank account.

For paid traffic you always have to keep and eye on it. I don't sleep very well at night after I setup some paid traffic campaign..=) maybe that's me
