Do all networks work like cj.com?

The main reason I don't like CJ is I have to get approve for every offer I want to promote. I joined a couple of top networks and many top networks follow the same business model. I found it very irritating first I have to give hard interview and then after getting approved I have to get approval from every single offer.

  • No CJ's offer approval comes in three seperate flavors; no approval required, automatic approval, manual approval. One of the main reasons why you may have to be manually approved, is because they deal a lot with larger more established companies. That have put a lot of time and money into establishing their brand, and want to make sure they protect it, by making sure their affiliates are promoting their business within their guidelines.

Though as Stephen Gelber pointed out, they are vastly different than say his network or others, which will assign you an account manager, work with you to help you increase your revenue, and offer better payout terms.

The main reason I would consider going with his company or another affiliate network over CJ, is payout frequency. CJ pays every 30 days, no matter how much revenue your pushing through their network and they will not budge. So no matter if your making $500 a month, or $50,000 a month you have to wait till the month ends to get your check or wire.

Whereas most affiliate networks, will pay you weekly or even daily depending on your volume. So if your doing $1,000 in commissions a week, generally you can get approved for weekly payouts, which goes a long way if your paying for your traffic.

PS: I thought I should mention, with CJ you don't have anyone within CJ to help you with your campaigns like an affiliate manager. But your generally given a contact at the company your promoting that can help you... Though generally, my findings are they have less knowledge than a direct affiliate manager, who's familiar with the industry.

As mentioned above, it depends on the network and the offer/advertiser. You'll find many that don't require approval and/or the approval is automated.

Not all networks are like this, for example 90% of the offers that are live in our network are open to the public and have automatic approval when you request them. That being said our network and most networks in fact have a small stable of private offers which you will need to speak to your AM about to get access too.

This is done for two reasons.

    1. To control Quality and volume
    2. To not saturate the offer

However, just because the offer is private does not mean it is any better than the public offers. Just pick a few networks and build a good reputation with your AM.
