Need some traffic guidance

Hi all,

I've developed my own product that converts well enough for the moment. But unfortunately, I'm only getting about 30 visits a day despite some significant SEO efforts.

I'd like to start building traffic in a big way, but I'm not sure where to start. I'm fine with going with paid traffic, but again, lots of options and I'm not sure where to start.

Ideally, based on my current conversion numbers I'd like to pay a maximum of $0.20 per visitor to my site and I'd love to reach a goal of 1000 unique visitors a day. Not sure if this is realistic.

Eventually I will definitely refocus on SEO, but only after my paid traffic results reveal the keywords that will be most effective for me.

If you could point me in the direction of what would be the fastest, most effective methods for getting about 1000 visitors daily to my product's squeeze page on a budget of $100-200/day, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,
-Rob

    My advice...

-Look over at the SEO sub-forum and keep doing SEO

-Your idea to try PPC to find good keywords is good...stick with longer tail if you want cheap keywords like you suggest

-IMPORTANT - I have no idea what niche your product is in, but try finding other web properties related to the niche, approach the owners, and see if you can work out private deals. If you have a good product, this can work extremely well. Do an interview for their readers/list whatever or a webinar for them etc and promote your product at the end, giving the owner a good piece of any profits.

    Some ideas to think about!

    Hey, Rob!

Depending on your niche, $0.20 per visitor is possible. You just need to find the right platform, choose your placements carefully and keep an eye on your numbers.

Send me a PM with more info about your product and maybe I can help you find the right traffic source.

Hey guys. Thanks so much for your replies!

Ken, I've put some decent work into SEO already, but the results were very disappointing considering the effort that was put in. I'm currently #1 for "computer consultant" and "computer consulting", which unfortunately are poorly targeted for my product - a biz-op for computer consultants.

I intend to continue with SEO, but I know it's going to be a slow road. I want traffic now.

I like your idea about partnering (which is already on my to-do list), but even if that goes perfectly, I still see it as a fluctuating source of traffic. I'm hoping to learn how to generate a steady, consistent stream of traffic on "automatic".

William - My product is essentially a marketing kit for computer consultants (first link in my sig). Think... Joe Polish, but for computer guys instead of carpet cleaners. I can go into more detail privately or give you full access to the site if it will help you to help me.

Thank you both again for your help in pointing me in the right direction on this.

BTW: I'm happy to purchase either of your WSOs if you think the information will help. With all the traffic building options out there, I just wasn't sure if the info in your reports apply for promoting my own product.

Nah, I wouldnt purchase my WSO. The WSO is more geared towards getting some good CPA campaigns up and running and although traffic is the heart of any CPA campaign, I'm sure there are better products for your exact situation.

Perhaps try a membership site like PPC-Coach if you want to go the PPC route or one of the traffic membership sites. Lots of great information and those combined with this forum and your SEO efforts already should be a great start to something good!

Are you doing any type of tracking? Do you know which keywords/key phrases convert now (you say it's converting well)? If you are not tracking, you are going to waste a lot of money on PPC for nothing.

I have some posts about keyword tracking on my blog: Google Adwords Tracking – Keyword Level if you want to learn more about tracking your campaigns.

Also if you are new to PPC, I suggest you start with exact mach and maybe, phrase match. Make sure you keep an eye on your campaigns in the first 24-48 hours to tweak them if you see something take off and make no sales.

      Hi Adriana,

When I say it's converting well, all I'm referring to is that I can pretty much tell by now how many sales I'll make for every 1000 visitors.

As far as tracking goes, I have my Google Analytics data collected since Dec.09, but I'm barely using it.

I know what keywords are being typed to bring searchers to my site, but which ones are actually becoming opt-ins is a complete mystery.

Because my current traffic volume is so low, I still don't know with confidence if any of the 700+ keywords that brought visitors to my site so far would be worth the SEO effort.

Sorry I'm so ignorant on this subject. I'm here because I'm hoping to change that very quickly.

I know this isn't the right section to talk about this topic, but as it's here...

I would also love to know how to get this information from Google Analytics. I have seen screenshots of very fancy filters etc within Analytics, which do this, and I have tried to find info on it. There are random posts etc which talk about it, but so far I haven't found a logical guide to setting up Google analytics to track converting visitors.

If anyone knows of such a thing, it would be great help!

        Cheers

You can try twitter and facebook traffic as well.

I see that I have around 20-30 hits from tiwtter if I add 7-8 tweets a day...

Would concentrate on twitter more right now

    :-))

This is my confusion, Vitaliy K. I've seen stuff on Twitter, Facebook, PoF, PPV, PPC, etc., etc.

I don't know which is right for me. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I was even posting my question in the right forum!

Lots to learn. Want to make the fewest mistakes as possible.

This is what I do exactly.

I always try to test and see what works best for me...

Twitter for instance works quite well at the moment for me and I try to go on in the "twitter direction" to see if I can achieve better results and drive more traffic to my site.

In order to know what works better for you - you should test and experiment and then you will see the light at the end of the tunnel... I mean traffic and of course sales

    Hi Rob,

It really depends where you want to go and how much are you willing to spend on testing .

If you want to focus on SEO, you can always go with the 'next set' of relevant keywords, drill a bit deeper.

If you want to focus on paid traffic it depends how far you want to go:

-> If you want to remain on a keycentric approach and you have a set of profitable keywords on adwords, you can scale it to yahoo/bing.

-> If you want to go further, you can try a demographic approach on social media. (Facebook, myspace, plenty of fish, linkedin, etc.) or even cpv traffic.

    hope this helps,
    Mario

Thanks again guys for your advice.

The more I read, the more it seems like SEO and related activities are the way to go.

I know it pretty well at this point, so I have an advantage there. I just have to pick out my "next set" of keywords and put a lot of effort behind my next round of article/video marketing, blog posting/commenting, guest blogging, forum participation, etc., etc.

I'm also going to check out twitter/fb. I'm hearing a lot of success stories there.

Next step after that is to get the webinars going and possibly turn this into a clickbank product.

Lots to do. Thanks for helping point me in the right direction.

      -Rob
