Well, I guess the title of the thread says it all. I'm looking to get my feet wet in PPV and would like your opinion on what would be a decent starting budget.

Starting budget i am not sure of, BUT one thing you want to keep in mind is how much volume/traffic you will be getting and whether or not your servers will be able to handle it. PPV can give you a TON of hits in a short matter of time. If you plan on redirecting thru your own tracking system or hosted page you will NOT want to be on a shared hosting plan. The last thing you want happening is spending money to send people to 404s-ville

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help

$1000, so you can get it to the best PPV company out there, Traffic Vance.

At least that's what everyone says...

$200 is a good budget to start PPV. You must use a VPS or Dedicated one to have a decent PPV campaign.

I'd say $500-$1000 is definitely a good place to start.

It takes a while to get a feel for the offers and what type of things convert on the different networks.

Having good hosting (VPS or better) is definitely a must.

Whats likely to happen if you use your standard hostgator/godaddy type hosting?

If you get a huge burst of traffic, particularly if you're running Prosper, you're likely to bring the server to it's knees and get your domain suspended. Leading all that lovely, expensive traffic to..... a nice 404

$200 to get into MT or LI, $1000 to get into TV.. either way those would be a decent budget to start with as well

I'd suggest having a higher budget then $1000. If you're serious about PPV I'd start with at least $2000. Even then you'll want to start off with low paying offers. It takes a lot of testing - and there is a ton of traffic out there.
