It all depends in which niche you wish to build a list... If you are in IM niche you can start with PPC ads and then do adswaps. I also use facebook and twitter to build my list...

Purchase co-registration real time leads and let your campaign fly. Building a list from scratch can be expensive with PPC and time consuming at its best.Google co-registration leads and find out the "secret" that a lot of the major marketing forces don't talk about

I mean there is no "best". You can build a list Fast with PPC and other paid traffic but that doesnt necessarily mean its the best because it costs up front.

I think no matter what traffic source you are building the list from, the important thing is incentivization. Properly incentivizing people to opt in is the most important past of building any list.

Next is incubating your list and warming them up.

Master these two concepts and you are golden no matter where you pursue your traffic

      I agree with you Ken.

Build list naturally, if you have website with traffic put there pop-up with opt-in or use script like pop-up dominator. You can also build your list with Fan Pages. I tried this way and it is really powerful, it is viral on fb.

It depends on your niche, but I agree with Kenster, there is no best way.

However, if you have some experience with PPC, I think that you can use opt-in pages and promote CPA offers using autoresponder series. It works very well with several platforms.

    Do it all!

PPC is good for testing but may be too expensive, unless you are in a niche that you can get good rates, like 5cents per click.

Viral marketing using free reports is good for opt-ins and also establishing yourself as an expert for an niche. The same thing with videos.

Facebook pages is good for certain niches and you have to redirect traffic to your opt-in.

I like twitter and stumleupon. Always get traffic but lower opt-in.

But remember to provide valuable content on your site. Articles and content about common things will lead to lower opt-ins because people will go to your landing page and say "boring" and move on. This is way getting the traffic to your site is half the problem .

Yeah there's definitely no "best" way to generate a list as it's subjective. It depends on how cheaply you can obtain subscribers as well as the potential return value of the individuals signed up to it.

I have personally has some good success using PPV networks to capture leads and then sending offers on a long-term basis.

If your campaign is put together right, any traffic source will most likely work well. With that being said, a crappy not-so well put together campaign can hurt you and you can end up losing money AND time.

A lot of people throw together email campaigns too fast, because they're encouraged to just "build their list". Make sure you spend an ample amount of time putting something together and then testing to see if it's actually profitable.

I've seen some very bad email campaigns ( i.e. trying to slam an email submit in their face on the 1st email ), or just badly written follow-ups.

I would try building your list as a squeeze in a CPA campaign, so you can monetize up front on the offer as well as the backend in the future! Do a search for squeeze to find examples or templates etc

        When Ken said...

If you want to build a list quickly use paid traffic methods (as long as you know how to use them) but free traffic methods are also fine if you don't have money to spend like me.

        Best of Luck!

Biz Opp. is frowned on by Facebook and Google. PoF might work well if you target "unemployed" or "under 25k per year".

The problem with using paid methods to build lists is that your potential subscribers are not pre-qualified in any way, which is the advantage of article marketing because assuming you wrote a really high quality piece of content and they read through all of it and clicked the link in your resource box, it makes them more likely to purchase whatever your promoting, if you can stick it out and make it work.

Every marketing avenue can be extremely effective..it just depends on how you master that avenue. There are a lot of people turning away from google ppc, but there are a select few who actually still use that as their main medium for advertising and you can bet your butt off when they do it right they can push a lot of revenue. It comes down to the basic principle with a lot of things...you get what you pay for.

    Solo ads maybe....??

And also...paid traffic can be free if you use a simple system, squeeze page then CPA offers, you might break even or make profit, but the best part is that you will build your list almost for free.
