    Thanks for that link.

I am probably looking at setting the ad network up from scratch, so that I can talior it to my specific neiche, rather then paying for a 3rd party program.

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has successfully or unsuccessfully set up their own ad network before.

I will have three sites, two of which are already well established and respected within my niche. So I would like to use the three sites as the basis of my network, but I am confident that I will be able to get a couple of more websites and advertisers along without too much trouble.

    Hi Testboss,

The reason why I am looking into it, is because I have a good realtionship with similar websites that may be interested in either advertising or making some money.

It is the type of thing where I think you have to know people who would be willing to advertise and also knowing people who own websites and would be willing to use the ad network.

Dont wanna rain on your parade bro, but setting up your own ad network requires quite a steep INVESTMENT to set it up. Aside from all the technical aspects, you need staff and a big budget for marketing. Besides, lots of competition out there, so you are fighting an uphill battle.

Try something slightly easier to make money, like simple CPA/CPL. You get rich quicker that way

I don't think it costs a whole lot to set up one. It's basically a brokerage, you charge people to sell things, and you pay a percentage of that to the people who do the selling for you, like flippa or clickbank or whatever.

If you want to broker a couple sites traffic to a couple of people it could be fairly simple. I highly doubt for that kind of a setup you're going to want to build a whole ad network platform unless you get off on programming and want to do it for fun. For a small ad network I'd suggest getting OpenX as mentioned above. It's not great but should work well enough.

Have you ever bought display media?
    Sold display media?
Run a business with invoicing, collections, uptime issues, customer service?

There's a lot more questions but often what looks simple on the surface is really complicated businesses with LOTS of moving parts. Everyone says oh a network is easy but there's so many things to go wrong.

It's only as difficult as you make it .
