*IMPORTANT* Is List Building Dead...?

Hi guys i want to list build but feel like its dead now days or it won't last to long see 5-10 years ago you could create an launch products an the market was not saturated like it is today so many thousands of people getting into either list building or affiliate marketing an 90% or more are truly failing but at the same time killing the traffic sources an saturating them its cool it they were making money but they aren't and seems like people are catching on to this.

I believe 5-10 years ago a list was powerful but now seems like email opening rate is going down with spam an people going blind to it simply deleting.

I need some FEEDBACK Warriors !

Guru's that have a 100k list are doing good they got in it in the right time but now building a list by the time you have 50-100k list it'll be useless an you probably spend tenth's of thousands of dollars in it.

I'm not a huge fan of lists but most people praise them so I guess the old saying "The money's in the list" still applies. As with everything else I guess the quality you deliver to the people on your list is what matters most. If you make it look spammy and just try to push them something every day then that's just what they'll consider you - a spammer.

Phobos is exactly right. I know that when someone is offering something FREE that I want, I always join their list. Sometimes they make a sale, sometimes they don't. If their freebie is good enough, and the paid offer is BETTER, many times I'll complete their offer or buy the product.

It just depends how good it is and how well they've marketed the product. That's what you should focus on, instead of claiming emailing is dead. Study what the top gurus are doing, instead of passing it off as "Oh, they just got in early."

Every traffic source has seen more competition lately. More and more people are attempting to make it full time working from home - but most will fail - it's just how things go.

Email marketing is still one of the most cost effective ways to make money online. There's a reason that spammers spam - it WORKS. Opt in email marketing works and won't land you in prison

I doubt list building is death. I personally used to be really fat before and I remember I joined a fat loss list, and in fact I bough many crap from that guy, he was probably an affiliate not sure though, it was a few months ago.

He made money off me, because I was in his list, if list building was death he wouldn't have done that. Now, I think list building is not death at all, you can easily make money upto 3 times or more per subscriber! it's crazy!

Now, instead of promoting a singular offer, I would build a list and email them, that way I might make even more from the same person!

I am a fan of the Jeff Walker/Frank Kern list method that will never die. You give your list great free content continually . then when there is a product you want to promote you have the right to ask and they are much more likely to buy from you since you have been giving not selling.

I wish I had a link handy - but there was a nice graphic breaking down how corporations spend money on Internet advertising and it broke down to:

~14 billion on SEM (search engine marketing)
    ~11 billion on email marketing

    Social networking was *very* small.

It works for Best Buy, Disney & all the other companies. I've found search engine marketing (SEO, PPC) and email marketing to be the 2 most lucrative methods out
    there myself.

It's funny you think email marketing might be dead based just on your feelings, whims or random thoughts.

    It's not dead. At all.

You just have to do it correctly.

Yes I can assure you that list building and email marketing is not even close to dead. Those of you who have looked at the big launches know that the lists built in a product cycle can be more valuable than the product itself.

Huge Huge Huge money in lists, you just need to have a good list strategy. Just like simply having traffic wont make you money, simply having a list wont either.

I bet with a good list building strategy, a list of only a few grand can make 6 figures if the quality of the list is good and your strategy is good.

A "list" is very similar to CPA. Both are abotu prospects and leads. Get good at turning prospects into paying customers then you will do fine with CPA (affilaite or backend merchant) or with you list!

Correct. Most successful marketers that I know do email marketing, so I can guarantee to you that it's not dead. By building your own email lists you can keep in touch with your subscribers and build a relationship that's very profitable.

I work with paid trafic (PPC mainly), but I have campaigns where I capture leads to promote offers with autoresponder series and also make money on a long-term basis. I know that I'm not the only guy here doing this.

List building certainly isn't dead, but with how many people are doing it now - you need to evolve with the game, people need incentives to join lists and quality content to keep them on the lists

Yes, list building is dead. Please send me your lists and I will properly retire them

Seriously, that's the only thing that makes me money consistently. But I operate only in a couple of markets and I try hard to market to my list effectively while providing value.

Building a list is now one of the most effective methods of affiliate marketing and everyone should be looking to build a list as it's a real asset and tool to have. Dosn't matter if you're an affiliate or a merchant you should be looking to build a list as a quality list and quality email marketing can bring you massive long term profits.

Great marketers understand brand equity and relationship marketing through mailing lists. If you become an expert at it you'll find that people will stay on your lists for month and even years and they'll become very loyal buyers as they've built a long term relationship with your brand, it's all about the trust factor now online.

There's a few people who abuse email marketing and they use the tatic of ramming you with 2-3 emails a day which forces you to do one of three things which is either buy what they are promoting to you, unsubscribe or keep getting their emails.
