How serious are YOU about making money?

Since my WSO has gone on sale, I've talked to a hundred or so folks about my offline methods, trying to help them get started making some real money. I purposely have several methods in the book so that in the case one of them doesn't suit somebody, they have others to choose from. Anyways, I'm seeing a trend among newbies that disturbs me. Alot of them have asked me for more methods besides the ones in my book, so I've given them some really solid methods that have a ton of potential, BUT, they do not want to use these methods because it requires them to move outside their comfort zone. They're literally passing up hundreds of dollars a day because they're not "comfortable". If you want to make it in this business, you MUST do things you don't feel like doing.

I know guys like Ken, William, myself, Matt Olson, and others started out with methods that we didn't necessarily like, but we did them anyway because we knew they would make us money and help kick start out affiliate marketing business.

If you're a newbie here today, please do not fail to try a method because it takes effort and requires you to get outside your comfort zone. I can tell you, that if you're not willing to do what it takes to make money, you'll never be able to have any kind of success in this business.

Internet Marketing is not as easy as it sounds people. I think people have the wrong idea. They think they can sit at home in their pajamas and wake up at noon everyday and make 6 figures a year. That ain't the way it works folks.

I know all this is pretty obvious, but if any newbies are reading this, I repeat: Do NOT plan on succeeding in affiliate marketing unless you are willing to get outside your comfort zone and do some leg work like Ken says. You never know, you may go ahead and bite the bullet and use a method you don't like at first, and then it could become your favorite method. I know several guys this happened to, including myself. So get out there and start making some money, and quit worrying about how easy or comfortable a method is. I don't know of any methods out there that someone would really love to do, at least not methods that work.

I started out in CPA sweating my butt off hitting every parking garage, parking lot, apartment and condo complex, housing development, train station, bus terminal I could find passing out or putting up flyers promoting CPA offers. Waking up every morning knowing you were going to pass out flyers on cars and houses and get dirty stares all day wasn't ideal.

    It was awful

But I did it. I was making money and needed the money to reinvest in my online efforts, most of which I lost in the beginning doing PPC. So I kept flyering and it was just as awful the 4th week as it was the 1st.

Making money online is "easy" when you know what you're doing but it takes time and work AND SACRIFICE to get to that point. Despite what James says, I can and do work in my pajamas many days now but guess what...it took many of hours, days, weeks, months of working my bum off to start seeing any substantial income.

This isn't about talking myself or James or anybody else up. I can't speak for James but I know I certainly aint the smartest, or fastest, or toughest guy but I am willing to work my butt off when I want something and I am willing to sacrifice when I want something bad enough.

If you want to make $X online...put in $X worth of work and time and effort!

The great thing is that everybody reading this has the ability to do great things. So the trick no is channeling everything within you to make it happen.

    Wishing everybody much success!

I have found very usefull your discussion. I thought that I had nothing to add posting. But I have, my personal experience.

Before 1 year I was pushed out my work as an IT admin on a very famous toothpaste company. (I cant say the brand). After all these weekends of work (unpaid) and the 11 hours of daily work. 7 years have gone to dust. So I decided to invest to MYSELF.

Now, I have my web company. We will open in 1 month.

The reason I am posting is that everybody believed that I was insane working as much on a website. I work constant and I like it. I had no vecations or holidays this year. Working for your self is a bit like an addiction. If you are smart you will surely find the way to do it right and at no cost. But really I didn't knew how much work is needed to get a profitable web site / company.

I never stopped believing that hard work will get me to the top. I have google first page ranks on my keywords in just two month.

Now my friends come at home and congratulate me about my work. Well everybody think that web site is an easy way to make money from home. .... It 's not. It needs all your efforts to be focused and much much much of your time. But don't be afraid cause every effort will help you finally.

It better to push your self to the limits than let other pushing you and getting all the profit.

    Good luck and stay focused.

    Very good thread, Jay!

I couldn't agree more with you. The truth is that most people are lazy (sorry, just neing honest). People are not willing to work to achieve their income goals. Some guys want to set up a site, go to sleep and then wake up $100K richer. It doesn't happen in the real world, unless you play and win the lottery.

Of course, there are exceptions, I know quite a few guys who are definetely not lazy and work their butt off, but, unfortunately, they seem to be just a small percentage (probably, the percentage that succeeds).

So I see your post as a wake up call, and if people who are not willing to work understand and accept what you are saying I'm sure that you will have created many successful marketers.

Btw, your WSO is very interesting. I live in Brazil and can't implement all of your methods, but one of them is certainly very hot for me. I know a group of students who created a software that can be used to implement one of your methods with a pretty high potential. I overlooked this opportunity initially and didn't pay too much attention to their project, but now I'll definetely do business with them. They have the software, but no money or contacts, so I think that I can take part in the project and take it to a high level.

What I find amazing is how many opportunities you get by learning and getting good at internet marketing and CPA marketing. Both are about traffic which is the heart of the internet.

For example, I have a fellow I am helping out who is starting an online auction site and the concept is brilliant, the guy is brilliant, but he had overlooked some very critical steps that most people here at WF would think are so basic.

If CPA marketing died right here right now, the skills and knowledge learned dont jsut go to waste. Everybody reading this knows traffic and can utilize that knowledge to monetize in all types of ways. Even if you do very very very basic SEO consultation to local businesses, you can make a good living.

Ok, very verbose here, I'm rambling, peace

Oh man, I know what you mean. Having a great idea and even significant financial resources is not enough. I'm helping a relative who is trying to implement a unique online business, and he makes me want to tear my hair out due to his lack of education in the fundamentals of IM.

Hehe, been there done that. The biggest mistake I see regular business people make when they go online is that they approach online traffic like they would offline traffic. In a brick and mortar, when somebody walks into your store and likes what they see, they may walk out and then come back. They know where you are at all times. Online, if people visit your web site, even if they like what you have, if they leave chances are they are gone for good. Thats why capturing your traffic is more important in the online world. Also, direct marketing is more important. You need to be a little more "aggresive" in your emotional sale. If you dont capture or sell your customer in those first few seconds on your site, they are gone and most likely forever.

Then people counter...if I have a good site, they will bookmark me. Hogwash, one in a million people bookmark a site they are interested in. If they leave your site without buying or leaving their email address, 999 out of 1000 or more are gone for good.

    comfort zone... exactly.

When I started in sales, I detested talking to people. I was afraid to talk to people, I was afraid of public speaking. But, I knew in order to make money I had to do something. So I did, and I started talking and I broke those companies record for most sold in the first two weeks.
When I got into IM/offline, same thing, I hated being on corners or going to events where everybody was attending but I was outside, passing flyers.
It's never going to be picking flowers and making thousands of dollars, it's always going to be work before the harvest.
Instant gratification will never work in this business, or any other...

Thanks for the inspiration, that is my problem, too. I feel I am at standstill, and have a personal coach who said:
"looking at your business you are actually doing the stuff you are feeling comfortable with and not the stuff that requires effort and makes you get out of your comfort zone and make money."

I understand you being afraid of going out there, and I just realized I am losing the very important factor of being unique to customers, not just an offer. Happy you made this comment, gave me inspiration!

You would not believe how afraid I was to talk to people. It came to the point where I didn't leave the house for a year and a half(seriously).

Then one day, I just asked myself, "what am I afraid of?" But I let those words sink in to the deepest level of my being. And I realized people are just the same as me, no greater, no smaller.
And it made me feel a lot more comfortable. I went from not being able to talk to someone or looking someone in the eye, to making 4 figures sometimes daily by having to deal directly with people.
I went from being afraid of coming outside of my comfort zone, to exploiting that zone. And I've met a lot of great people that have helped in my growth, that I would never have met otherwise( I have great friends all over the world).
I hope you do realize you're the one that puts the barriers up and you're the one that can take them down.... glad it helped.

I've never met any successful entrepreneur in any business discipline who didnt intentionally challenge their comfort zone. As an entrepreneur you are responsible for so much its impossible that everything is within your comfort zone, so it truly is extremely important!

    Thanks Laura

    Thats a great story!

Everybody is made up of the same cells and everybody breathes the same air. Most of the perceived differences between ourselves and other people are just that...perceptions. They are psychological demons that help differentiate each and every one of us but they can be hurtful just as much as helpful. Fears and anxieties are natural and healthy defense mechnisms, but when it comes to running a business we need to overcome these defense mechanims, step out of our comfort zones, face our fears, and get past our anxieties.

And CPA marketing requires a certain degree of entrepreneurship, so this applies us all.
