I'm starting my CPA journey!

Today I am officially starting my CPA journey.

I had $1,5K to invest on this business. After buying instruction and spending some money with landing pages, hosting, domain, etc... I still have $1,1K. Not a very good budget, but will need to be enough.

I'm going to start doing PPC promoting high-ticket offers. I actually have 2 offers to test with good payouts: $74 and $37. I'll test the $37 one first because it's cheaper for the customer, but the other one also seems to be good.

I'm happy that the method that I learned uses smaller ad networks, because I won't have to face problems like the Google slap or the Facebook ad approvals right now. Of course, I'll scale my campaigns to bigger ad netwroks if it works.

I won't give away too much information here about what I'm gonna do for 2 reasons. First I don't know if it works and don't want to mislead others. Second, I don't want too many people copying me if I eventually make some money (I will spend $1,5K testing this, so it's not fair that others just get it for free). So, please, don't ask me to say what offers I am promoting. I'll maybe reveal the ad networks later, but nothing else.

However, I'll post some updates on this thread and let everybody knows how well I'm doing. Maybe it will give other beginners some inspiration. I also hope that the more experienced guys will take a few minutes of their time to give me some tips as I post updates.

I joined this forum just a few days ago, but I have been around reading posts for a few weeks and I know that people are very helpful here, so I am confident that I won't be alone!

Cheers!

    Hey

Go into the finance lead generation market (insurance, debt management, loans). You will get the highest payments per "form submit". That's what I do and I make 5-figures every month.

Any questions just let me know

I think the cost of bidding on finance related keyword is too high. Is there something I am missing? Moreover, I have also heard stories of merchants rejecting leads too much.

I am also waiting for your WSO

      Hi,

I saw your post about CPA marketing and would like to ask you to tell me more about finance lead offers. Which network offers them where it is easy to get in?

      Thank you for your answer!

    Good luck on your journey!

The only thing which matters are the search trends and actual searches. Since the holiday season is approaching, try digging out keywords that are experiencing a spike or positive trend. Either go for PPC to get instant exposure with "Google instant" bashing our $$$ too much.

    Best regards,

Thank you for your great comments!

    Here is my first update...

    DAY 1

    Clicks: 103
    Clicks to the offer: 15
    Conversions: 1
    Cost: $75.19
    Earnings: $37.50

I think it was not very bad. I got a conversion right in the first day and it made me believe that I could get profitable, so yesterady I tried again:

    DAY 2

    Clicks: 120
    Clicks to the offer: 93
    Conversions: 2
    Cost: $86.40
    Earnings: $75

Where is the big difference? I think it's the number of clicks to the offer. It happened because I started using an exit popup. I should have used it in the first day too, but I thought it was not allowed.

Now I am really very confident. I'm using only 2 placements and all the conversions came from it. So I think that I will just pause the other placement and try to get profitable with this one (if I ignore the second placement the second day was profitable).

I think that my cost per click is too high, too. So I must find a way to reduce it.

I'll update the thread when I have more numbers!

Good luck - but be careful promoting such high ticket items with a low budget.

You seem to be off to a solid start so far - but if I were you I'd focus on some lower paying CPA offers as well. They'll be cheaper for you to test and you won't have to blow your budget.

But if it's working for you already - by all means - keep it up.

I absolutely agree. It may be sexy to promote a $100 payout offer but when you realize that most campaigns lose money before they make money, then on high ticket commission offers like the above, chances are you will be digging a deep hole before you start clawing your way out. Some people don't habve the budget or stomach to dig such a whole, and the truth is that you don't need to online...that's the beauty of the internet.

Even if you are doing free or cheap traffic, a high payout offer means it is difficult to convert relative to a low payout offer (in general). This means that if you are new you will need to drive a lot of free and cheap traffic to see your first conversion. For new marketers this can be terribly frustrating and disheartening. I always think its better for a newer marketer new promote simple submits just to see results, even if they aren't seeing a lot of profit. The most important thing to start is to remain motivated...something that is hard if you go a few weeks trying to promote a high payout offer without a single conversion!

There is nothing wrong with promoting easy submit offers when you are first starting out. You can still make money, you probably won't lose as much, and it just makes sense.

I understand what you mean, it makes sense. However, I have the budget and stomach and I'm already getting some conversions, so I'll keep this going.

I also have to say that I didn't pick my offer randomly. I paid a person to help me and I'm following his advices. I don't know if I'll make any decent money with this campaign, but I'm getting conversions and it's already something very good for me (rarely happened with my previous campaigns).

My budget is not very high, but I'll try to get more money if necessary to keep this campaign up as long as I'm making a profit, even if it's just a few dollars.

Anyway, thank you for your advice. I know that you are a very helpful person here and I am happy that you took a few minutes of your time to help me! Thanks a lot, Kenster!

Sounds like you are making progress already on your campaign. As long as you are in the black and don't fall in the red you should be fine. For a high ticket item and for you testing things out it sound like you are doing well which is great! Looking forward to your updates! Keep up the good work bud!

Ok, guys, now I really think I have a good campaign. Take a look on the numbers of my last test:

    Clicks: 98
    Cost: $64.68
    Conversions: 2
    Earnings: $75

This time I used only the placement that was generating conversions. I still can spend more money there, probably $80 a day or more.

Now, I'm trying to reduce my CPC. It doesn't seem to be hard, because my ads have a good CTR. My real problem will be find another placement like this one. I couldn't find a similar site with the ad network that I'm using. I'm using AdSonar, so do you guys know about another similar network?

Hey John... A few questions for you...

Are you capturing the customer's data througha squeeze page first or are you just chasing dollars here?

What PPC engines are you using? Did you take advantage of the FRE credits with Google and MSN? Also, have you experimented with other 2nd and 3rd tier ppc engines?

    Best of luck...

P.S. I grossed $480k over the last two years with CPA. My Expenses were one third of revenue. Keep an eye on those numbers. It is a $ Numbers game. Make small changes... wait ..... make small changes again... wait.... you will see soon where the breaks are.. It took me 70 days to take profit off the table... I have had three loser days in two years. Best of luck...

Three loser days...not bad!! Wish I could say the same. At first I was running a marathon of loser days...gotta love PPC as a newb! :p

      But I agree..its all a numbers game...

Find 60 ways to make $10 a day and you are doing 200k

Test small, test small, test some more and then start scaling and keep going. Scaling too fast does no good and testing too large does no good.

      my 2 cents
