I have been BANNED from Adwords for Life!

As per the title, yep I have rec'd an email from Google Adwords Support stating I've been banned for life.

Why? First of all this is pretty damn irrational decision (I think anyway)! Me being very new to the IM industry (last 5 months or so), I sign up to clickbank, found a couple of products that looked like they sold well (mobile monolpy, auto traffice avalanche) created a website to send Adwords traffic to with these products on it, and $20 worth of clicks (200 or so clicks) later no sales, I pulled the ad as I assumed I was not IM correctly to convert sales etc. Still new, so learning...

Btw at the same I had x3 other campaigns running for a professional business at the same time for one of my clients.

A week after I stopped my affiliate ad my entire adwords account stopped completely, no email stating why, no messages in my adwords account - nothing. After a week or so of changing my clients ads to see if they were not optimised correclty etc, (still with my affiliate ads on pause) I kept waiting for results to come in but nothing. I finally found Google's contact page sent them an email asking why, 2wks later I got a response advising I was promoting 'scam' websites which was against their policy so they suspended my account. I replied stating I didn't realise these sites were scam sites and that I had pulled my ads week before hand (and I removed them completely after this email). I requested my clients ads been re-activated and if not then I wanted a refund on the remaining credit.

Oh and I might add once I discovered this awesome forum I soon became aware that MM & ATA were not all what they were made out to be. Yes I should have done some googling on them - but hey I was and still am new to all this...

Google support replied today stating that they have banned my account for life, and any future accounts I try create?!!

What an farking joke! Google Adwords are running ads for both MM and ATA as we speak! Why aren't they banned for life too? Or maybe Google are getting to them?

Can they really ban me for life? Is there a way around this?

I replied with a final request to reinstate my account based on my ignorance and being mislead by the MM & ATA Google ads running back then and right now!

I guess it's not the end of the world but Google adwords can work ok for professional business'...

Anyone else been banned for life!? lol

Plenty of people are banned for life. Its unfortunate really. You can report the other MM and ATA ads if you want and get them banned too if that'll make you feel better lol

It's called Google Slap. If Google considers that your campaigns are not providing value to their users or are promoting scams (can be the case with some CB products) they will ban your account.

We understand that you had good intentions, but, unfortunately, they don't care about it. Or you provide value adn help improve their results or you're not welcome.

This is the reason why you need to be careful when promoting CB products or CPA offers on Google. I usually use opt-in pages so that people are not exposed to the offer(s) right after clicking on the ad. Some offers like some decent dating sites can pass without problems, though.

If your account was banned the only thing you can do is create a new one using a different name, CC# and IP address. You can use another internet connection and create an account using the name of a friend or relative. Unfortunately, if you create another account with your information it will be automatically slapped.

I would agree with this. I was banned, but already had 3 other dormant company accounts. I simply started using one of those, even though I was logging in from same same computer, I even remember the accounts being connected but Adwords didn't do anything.

Having said all that I soon moved on as what's the point in building somethging only to be shut down again.

I'd rather build something I knew was going to last.

This is exactly it, in the past we've seen it - too many people get too invested in google and when that dries up or ends it's over.. i was one of these individuals who learned the hard way.. however, it's never too late to recover and continue

I had the same thing happen man.

Except I knew what I was doing! I was making a good profit, had a great website set up, and was doing pretty well.

Then one day all my ads stopped. (I averaged a 8/10 QS)

I email, find out my account has been suspended, after 5 emails of me asking what went wrong I was finally told "your business strategy is not the kind we are looking to work with, we reserve the right to quit advertising with anyone" or something like that.

(I guess I could go back and find the email)

Thing is, I don't understand what was wrong with my site, it wasn't a bridge page, it was a site with articles and ads on the side! i wasn't linking to a salespage or anything.

I've moved on since then, not going to lie I do miss those profits though.

It is possible to get unbanned, my friend who helped me set up my account (he's a google certified adwords professional) was banned, after he made a few calls they gave him his account back.

Well man, that doesn't really matter to them anymore. They hate ClickBank, CPA offers, and ANYTHING they feel is not a legitimate business. In other words, they don't like affiliates.

I've seen blogs with 30+ pages of unique content get banned, just because of the nature of the offer.

yeh I don't understand how some are still promoting cpa with even opt in pages on Google, when I know people whom have had content heavy and high quality score sites doing very well... banned for no reason, and they never did one wrong thing or promoted any scams. I even know a few people whom have had adwords cancelled for the brick and mortar businesses and they get the same canned response as others... which makes even less sense for a brick and mortar.

I agree. That makes absolutely no sense at all. Especially since these are the types of businesses that Google claims they want as advertisers.

I know, I can understand some controversy regarding online affiliates... but brick and mortar businesses? That pretty much shows that I believe they randomly do grabs of whatever, and whatever is including in their "ban sweeps" is banned. there is no reason a normal brick and mortar business should have their ad's cancelled, and get the same dumb canned response that google sends affiliates and everyone else.

how does google know that you are trying to create another adwords account after being banned? they have an extensive profile of you - tons of data collected from your surfing habits, from all the google properties mentioned in this thread plus some others like google toolbar and google analytics. also don't forget that google is a domain registrar as well, so if you register domains and use private registration in hopes of hiding your personal data, google can see through it and connect the dots back to you.

I read this somewhere, probably in I Make Money Online By Telling People How I Make Money Online - John Chow dot Com or one of his associated sites. There were 20k Adwords accounts suspended for life right until February 2010. It is still going on until today.

Many were said to be people who make their living online professionally in civilized manner for so many years. I don't really know whether that statement is accurate.

The Google Slap is a bad thing but there is a very good thing about it. YOU START LOOKING FOR ALTERNATIVES.

And these alternatives can bring in huge waves of targeted traffic and more lucrative. You don't need to spend much money for the traffic. I bet you know about this already.

      1. For JV to help your clients, try talking to CPA Networks : PeerFly, Axon Media and LeadBolt.
      2. For traffic blueprint, get this WSO : 35 Proven Techniques to Deliver More buyers
      3. And this WSO that drills deep for Alternative Traffic: Generate 2,000 Daily Unique Visitors.

Being fair to Google ( for giving me pretty nice tools in Google Ads, Analytics and Affiliates ), check out this discussion in Webmaster Central Forum. It just happened last month. You will notice issues many others don't realize, that caused the ban. Very enlightening.

I have received a warning (at a 2nd attempt to use adwords for this products, ban for life) because I made the same mistake, but with some CPA products.
Now the question is you are banned just from adwords, or you can be banned also from adsense if you use CB,CPA products with adsense?

google bans you from adsense because they think u just try to milk their money without good faith (very lousy sites, copied, autoblog, etc), whereas with google adwords, they ban you because they suppose your ads & your sites don't add value to their end users (in fact, they think you are harmful to the end users).....

as for Google keeps sending you coupon after being banned, this is what happens with very big companies, they have different departments to take care of things...

Forget Google AdWords. Things move fast online and people don't stay on top for long. You have to be willing to constantly adapt.

I agree with Chris, check out these traffic sources:

      Facebook
      Plenty of Fish
      Traffic Vance
      pulse360
      CPXinteractive

You can also buy banners on peoples sites yourself. I used my old AdWords Content Network reports and contacted the high converting sites directly. You can cut out the big G middle man and buy ads yourself cheaper!

Wrote about this stuff ages ago, and the only ones who get hurt are the affiliates, but no where still do any of the cb vendors take responsibility / nor do the providers nor do the ad companies, they all know it does not work yet they allow it, there are hundreds of people on cb promoting sem / adwords as a creative yet they also know it is full of crap and will get the affiliate banned, they continue to let it happen each day.

like sheep the next person roles up to promote their product and they send them to the slaughter in the effort to make a few more $.

Are you guys mostly talking about linking directly?

In other words - if you link to your site where you provide value, I mean real value, and then suggest a product (and even go so far as to say that you make a percentage of the sale) and even have reviews that provide, again, value...are you okay?

Or is it anyone's guess how they do it?

Nathan, it will not matter how you link, in that a site that reviews a non preferred subject will more than likely be slammed as well, a lot of the early sites led to mini / type sites / mmo on line / fix my broken heart / all would have been slammed by now.

You should consider being banned by Google as a blessing. Now, you can start a real business and buid it correctly.

google hates you. google founders are the worst. they even hate their best customers. they are elitist arrogant evil people.

I treat them the same way they treat others. I make them work for me for free. I don't hate them though. hate is a waste of time. but I understand them. I've read their patents. I have read their financial statements, anything they publish, all the court decisions for/against them.

Google believes and acts like they own anything on the internet that they want.. They monitor email, what you do, what you write, who writes to you and what they say. they are in your face, inside your website. All that without anyone's permission .... because we are google.

Understanding that the above is factual, is the beginning to knowing how to make them work for you for free.

Feed them and they will follow you around like a hungry puppy.

Put them in a cage when you don't want or need them. Take them out every once in awhile and give them some fresh eyeballs.

google knows what garbage is, since most of the content on the web is garbage. don't feed them garbage. feed them 'table scraps'.

Never, ever, ever, be income-dependent on them for anything. just let them play along and make them do what they are programmed to do: find things. Period.

    TB

Google has creepily become Big Brother, if there ever was going to be such a thing.

You must use new IP which is not in any associate with your former adwords email or account.

yup, google bans adwords accounts for life quite a bit. i got my 5 year old account banned for life last december in a wave of bans where thousands got banned. google seems to ban adwords accounts in waves every few months. they cast a very big net when they ban and sometimes they ban big spenders who only promote their own brick and mortar businesses. it's crazy the way they ban left and right but they seem to know what they're doing. their last quarter was strong, beating analyst expectations and posting a 32% rise in profits.

as far as getting a new adwords account, a new pc is likely unnecessary as mentioned. but another thing to add to the list is to make sure that on your new ip, you don't login to any accounts of google services that you logged into on your old ip, like gmail, webmaster tools, etc.

Has anyone successfully created a new account with adwords. Mine was banned about a month ago. Same story as everyone else. The problem was a website that I tried to promote back in June. It was given a 1/10 for quality, so I never actually sent any traffic to it.

Anyways, I would love to hear some tips from people that actually created a new account and had it work. My wife did one in her name from a different house (ip address), different computer, different credit card, different mailing address and google knew it was me. They even sent me a letter telling me not to do that.

Hmm interesting. There are numerous ways to create new accounts. You can have a freelancer create a new acct for you at a new address using a VCC(virtual credit card) and register the VCC to another address. However I do not recommend neither am I recommending violating adwords TOS. Just telling you what I have heard before.

Clickbanks checkout pages suck anyway. I'd rather have 1 click upsells and custom checkout pages than 7% fees to handle processing and such.

Since you're posting here in the CPA section, I'd not even try to advertise any type of CPA offer with Adwords, and this goes for Clickbank and other digital affiliate products as well. On the other hand, promoting physical products on Amazon should not cause any issues as far as I know.
