INSANE: Google Will Dominate CPA Marketing [article]

I had to share this!

I like to stay informed, and by far, this is one of the most insane articles I've ever read.

These are a few quotes from the article:

"In a little-known move, Google created its own mortgage comparison shopping "super affiliate" in late 2009 . But today we find Google on track to dominate a market that just three years ago it had no offering in."

"Google is now offering *preferred* search ad placement and superior search ad terms to the advertisers who agree to use Google Affiliate Network (GAN). Google is literally inserting product images of GAN advertisers' products into the space occupied by cost-per-click AdWords ads. Yes, actual product images (making them cost-per-action 'display' advertisements) that appear where (formerly) *only* cost-per-click AdSense advertisements are running."

"Google is tapping a totally new revenue stream. It's literally becoming, itself, an affiliate of its advertisers. And placing ads directly in AdWords results slots.Google is tapping a totally new revenue stream. It's literally becoming, itself, an affiliate of its advertisers. And placing ads directly in AdWords results slots..."

Tell you the truth, nothing surprises me with Google. Wouldn't surprise me if they took over the world one day. The U.S.G

AGREED. I think people who say Facebook is going to overtake Google are crazy. Google buys into and takes over every type of medium on the Internet. Pretty soon you won't be able to go directly to website owners to do media buys anymore. Google will find a way to get their piece of every webpage on the entire internet. They are just that powerful of a force.

in 5 years, google will have consumed half of Apple's business.

Apple is doing all the hard work that is called innovation. Google watches for success and then copies, underprices and smothers.

        Google has only just begun.

What may not be possible, is to have the federal government break up Google like it did with AT&T. Google already "owns" big chunks of it.

Plus - Facebook Advertising is only useful for small to medium businesses who are selling products that may be useful to users of Facebook who aren't looking for something at the time but then spot it and become interested, however Google users are actually searching for something they want (unlike Facebook users).
Facebook advertising is useful, but it's not for everyone - I can't see the company I work for selling an ePos system or piece of accounts software to an everyday Facebook user anyway.

I don't think PPC will die by any means, but articles like this should make each and every one of us look closely at our business plans to make sure we are running businesses in a resilient and diversified manner.

For most traffic streams, our income and traffic is in the direct control of somebody/something else. Do yourself a favor and diversify!

This is an excellent warning sign that you should never put all your advertising eggs in one basket. It's tempting to do so especially when you get great results with one source, but remember things can go sour overnight when something changes.

By being diversified you should be able to weather these storms a lot more effectively than by utilizing just one or two main traffic sources.

Google is very ambicious. They want everything they can possibly get. I still have (and will have for as long as I can) campaigns running on AdWords, but I'm happy that my best performers are not in their arena.

As others here have quite rightly suggested the most important thing to learn from this is to have your finger in many different pies. The more diverse your income strems the safer you are against any radical marketing changes that the big G implement.

I agree...it will certainly happen. The results of the litigation, who knows, but it's coming soon.

But I will kee my personal opinions on monopolies, free market, anti-trust law to myself
