Hi,

Im just getting into adwords. So far made a little but I coming upto break even point now.

My question is when your selecting keywords for your adverts. Are you using broad match or exact. I only ask because when I do a search I have never used [] or "" in my search terms.

So why would the end user also not use them?

The [] or "" are just for adwords to distinguish between searches. If you bid on a keyword like PPC Classroom, your ad will show up for any search term with PPC Classroom in it.

If in AdWords you specified with quotations, like "PPC Classroom", your ad will only display when someone searches with those exact terms in that order.

Usually, I create an ad group for each keyword with the 3 match types. Then I track and decide on what to do (keep the 3, use only exact, etc...).

    hi.
You can use the combination of each results so you make your campaign work well however it also depends on your campaign needs, like if you use Broad match, that is for wholesale traffic, exact phrase for more specific targeted traffic and exact match for traffic from only exact keyword.

Ok makes sense. Thanks for your help. Im focusing on search traffic at the moment.

Im getting people to click through my landing page to the CPA offer. The problem Im having now is to get the to fill out their details. Well Im guessing that as they are not converting.

It asks for their address, phone number, email. No credit card.

How would you word your landing page to break them in, hype them up?

I would personally wouldn't give over those details to easily.

Use phrase or exact match if you're not too sure. Broad match can burn a hole in your pocket if you're not very careful. And always track your conversions down to the keyword level and eliminate keywords and ad copies that are not converting.

    Hi Marine,

Exact Phrase match, like Sparklesage said, is the best option to use.

However, besides this make sure you also use multiple ads within a campaign. Google also makes you aware to that and it will increase your conversions in addition to being able to sort out which ads work and which don't. In the end this will also help your costs as Google will reward you for having a good click through rate with lower cost per click

I almost always use exact [] with my keywords, keeps it as related as possible to your ads

it all depends on the person who is searching. i am an expert internet user and i know how operators work in terms of yeilding results so i use them. however, your target demographic may not search like that.
