Getting your sites out there? HOW?

I have been wracking my brain for months, literally since I started thinking about it.

What are some non-spammy, non-ppc ideas for getting eyeballs on your sites?

At this point the sites are fine. The money leads and stuff is fine. I am always working on more content, better content, better tools, more tools. I have app ideas I am always adding, so I know value will come eventually.

But aside from getting some sort of FoxNews whack or something, and/or just being patient (lol) what do you guys do/suggest for getting eyeballs to sites?

I am a perl scripter, so I have no problems copying sites and modifying massive templates on multiple domains, but at this point I am missing the human touch.

Why shy away from PPC? If your niche has targeted search traffic, PPC is the quickest way to get the traffic you're after.

Getting your site out there is the hot topic, lol. Here are some things I would recommend:

    1. Comment on other blogs in your niche
    2. Actively participate in relevant forums
    3. Be active on Facebook and twitter
    4. Network with other bloggers
    5. Do some guest posts on other blogs
    6. Do some interviews

I know I didn't go into much detail on any of them, but if you can choose a few of those and do them consistently, you can get your site out there more.

In terms of PPC, I would stay away from it unless you have a good enough backend to justify the cost. Once you know your conversions and are able to calculate the visitor value of everyone that comes to your site, then you know how much you can afford to spend on PPC. Yes, PPC can give you a surge of traffic if you spend enough, but unless you can keep that traffic and make money from it, it's not worth it (in my opinion).

Facebook page linked to twitter for your site can work well if it's a popular topic that people will want to pass around.

Also media exposure such as getting on a TV show has brought masses of traffic to a lot of larger websites.

A lot of good suggestions here. You can also try press releases as well. I often find though that PPC is a great jump start while the SEO is kicking in. Again, this is from my perspective, and I usually have a fairly small (but dedicated) budget to work with in this regard. If you don't have budget then don't pay for the traffic just yet. Using social media though like twitter, facebook, etc can help you go viral pretty quickly, but it's hard to count on that.

Have you tried sites such as trafficg.com

You view site's and earn credits, then your site's get viewed. It may not be high quality traffic as most people want to skip to the next site but it's still eye balls on your site.

You can write a press release and submit it to free press release sites who are eager to post your press release. You will get exposure and backlinks at the same time.
